Abby pulls up to a house and she smiles at me. "Here we go, are you excited?" I look at her and can't help but smile at her enthusiasm. I nod and we get out of the car. As we walk to the door and she knocks, I look around for the black van. Thankfully I don't find it anywhere. I look back as the door opens and a man with fire red hair and piercings all over his face opens the door.
"Abby, this must be the girl you were telling me about." He steps out and circles around me. "Do you mind if I touch your hair?" I shake my head and he takes a strand. "You take very good care of your hair, I'm impressed." He comes back full circle and looks at Abby. "So Abs, what challenge do you present me with today?" She hands him the picture and smiles. "I like it, shall we get started?"
We follow him into the house, which I am pleasantly surprised to find is painted a bright baby blue. He leads us into an office space with book shelves filled with hair dye. "Have a seat my dear." I sit down and he looks through the shelves. "Since your hair is blonde, we won't have to worry about using bleach, which is a really good thing." He pulls down several colours and sets them on the table. He then hands me an ipod. "I allow my clients to listen to music while I work. I prefer to have them do that actually. It keeps them from wondering how much longer." I smile and place the buds in my ears.
I am instantly surrounded by Don't Stop Believing by Journey. I just patiently listen to music as he starts to work. I eventually doze off and am woken up by a soft shake. I pull the buds out and Abby smiles at me. "Damn, never seen a girl fall asleep to Metallica while getting her hair done." I sigh and stretch. The man hands me a mirror. When I look into the mirror a completely different person stares back at me.
"What do you think?" I laugh slightly.
"I love it! Thank you so much!" He smiles and I hand him back the mirror. Abby and I stand up and we thank him again. When we get back out to the car Abby looks at me.
"I'm starved. Wanna go get something to eat?" I nod and hop in the car. "So, what should we get?" I shrug. "Well, we could go get chinese food."
"I'm good with chinese. As long as I can get something caffeinated." She sighs.
"Long night, huh?" I nod and she starts the car. "Well, chinese food and caffeinated beverages here we come." She pulls out of the driveway and we are driving for about ten minutes before I look in the rearview mirror and see the black van.
"Abby, we are being followed." She looks at me strangely. "That black van behind us, it's the same one that shot at me yesterday, and the same one that was outside of Gibbs' house this morning."
"Oh, I can see why you would think that, but it's not the same car. This has a different license plate. Don't worry, we will be fine." I only nod, but I am not convinced. We pull to the side of the street in front of the chinese place and we get out. Much to my relief the van continues to go straight. "See, I told you, nothing to worry about."
"Oh, I wouldn't say that." Someone grabs me from behind and covers my mouth. I try to scream, but no one is around to see what is going on. "Nice hair Genevieve, thought you could give us the slip, eh? Not this time." He pulls me towards the black van and I scream for Abby. "Oh, don't worry, your friend is coming with us." Both of us get shoved in the back and he speeds off.
"Don't worry Genevieve, Gibbs will find us." She whispers to me, clearly seeing the distress I am in. "It's going to be okay, when he traces my phone he will be lead to the chinese place and he can get the security footage." I lean into her shoulder, praying that she is right. She wraps an arm around me and she is trying to act like she isn't scared. But I can tell that she's as terrified as I am.
"You know, if I get out of this Gibbs is probably going to kill me because of the hair." She holds in a laugh and holds me tighter.
"We'll get out of this, Gibbs won't let us down."
"Will you two shut up back there?! Or else I will come back and shoot one of you." I shut my mouth tightly and then look at Abby. I lower my voice even more.
"I can try to telepathically connect with someone at NCIS. Who do you think has the weakest mind?"
"McGee. Timothy McGee. You should try it." I nod and close my eyes. I reach out for McGee and feel my head slump as I connect with him. His head slumps too and we come face to face on the telepathic channels.
"Genevieve, what's happening? I was sitting at my desk and then- What happened to you hair?!" I hold up a hand to silence him.
"Look, Tim, I don't have much time. Abby and I have been kidnapped. We were grabbed by the men from the black van outside of that chinese place on Main Street. Abby's car and phone are still there. We-" I feel myself sway as I can feel myself being pulled back into my body. "I don't know what they will do to us, but I know for me I can only take so much before I loose control."
"You mean, use your abilities to hurt someone?"
"That, and ultimately allow all the things I have healed over the years to come back at me. Tim, that would kill me. All that pain all at once. I can hold that back for as long as I can, but I don't know how long that is."
"You mean that you would kill yourself."
"Not intentionally. But, if it came down to it I would rather kill myself than harm someone else. You have to tell Gibbs what I told you. He has to find us. Good bye, Tim." I gasp as I enter my body again. Abby looks at me with wide eyes and she tightens her grip on me. "He knows, he will tell them." I sigh and feel my body trying to shut down. "I'm so tired. Wake me up when we get there." She nods and I feel my head fall into her shoulder.
