Chapter 33: Have You Seen Her?

Zayn's POV

I stepped outside. It was Harry.

"Have you seen Anna? She left school today."

He sounded panicked. Maybe because he knows that if he comes home without her he would get a lot of shit from David.

I hesitated. "Uhh... No, not really. I didn't come to school today either."

"Oh, well if you hear from her or anything can you call me?" He asked.

"Yeah."

"Okay, good thanks, mate." He said.

He hung up.

I knew it was wrong to lie to my best mate but, Anna doesn't wanna talk to him. I wouldn't blame her. He's playing with her anyway. I'm on her side on this one. I walked back in to find Anna watching T.V. She looked at me when I walked in. 

"Is everything okay?" She asked.

"Uhh yeah, yeah," I reassured.

She shrugged and continued to watch T.V. "Umm, are you hungry?" I asked.

"Uh, yeah I could eat." She said.

"Well, I hope you have a taste for pizza," I said.

She shrugged. "Yeah that's cool I guess."

Anna POV

Zayn and I ate our pizza in peace. I noticed when he walked inside he looked a little uneasy. I know Harry called and asked where I was because he doesn't want to get in trouble.

I'll go home when I'm ready and not on Harry's terms. He's not my father. He's not even my brother. I lost all respect for him when he took out my heart, stomped on it, and broke it into a million pieces.

I looked over at Zayn. He was laughing at scenes in the movie. What he said to me earlier was so sweet. I didn't know what I was thinking earlier when I almost kissed him. I guess I was caught up in the moment. He must have felt the same way if he didn't stop me.

I have to shake these feelings. He's Harry's best friend for crying out loud. Who knows how much trouble this can cause between the two of them?

I don't like Zayn.

At least that's what I was trying to convince myself to believe.

"You alright Bambi? You're a little quiet over there." 

I shook my thoughts out of my head. "Uh yeah, I'm just thinking."

"About what?" He asked.

"Nothing." I lied.

"Yeah, you are. I can see those gears inside your pretty, little head spinning." He teased.

"How do you always see right through me Zayn Malik?" I questioned sarcastically.

"I don't know. I just can read you." He said.

"Well, could you stop?" I said.

"I don't think I can." He replied.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because there's something about you that draws me into you. I want to know everything about you. I guess you could say I'm curious." He stated.

I raised my eyebrow. "Ever heard the saying curiosity killed the cat?" I mocked, throwing his words from the earlier back into his face.

"Your pretty smart Bambi." He complemented.

"Yeah, but more pretty." I joked. He leaned in closer. He looked down at my lips and licked his as he leaned in. "Yeah, that too."

My heart started beating fast as he inched closer to me. He put his hand under my chin and tilted my head up.

"Tell me to stop if you want me to." He said.

I couldn't say anything. My words were stuck in my throat. His lips inched closer to mine. before I could comprehend what to say or do next, his lips were on mine. My eyes widened in shock. I didn't kiss back.

He kissed me again.

"Zayn stop I can't ." I stood up. "Take my home," I demanded.

"Why? what's wrong?" He asked.

"It's not... Look you're a great guy but, I just can't do this with you," I said. I stood up and stormed towards the door. "I'm sorry I just... Need to think."

"Please. Let me drive you home." He begged. he stood up and followed me towards the door. I declined. 

"I don't think that's a good idea. I'm sorry."

I grabbed my shoes and left. I was already getting dark out. I decided to run so that I wouldn't be out so late.

I finally reached my house. I didn't see my mom's or David's car so I was safe. I walked into the house. Before I could fully relax I noticed Harry sitting on the couch. I jumped at this.

Great, this is the last person I wanted to see.

He had a look of relief when he saw me then anger took over his features. He got up and walked towards me.

"Where have you been?"
