I'm hoping that this chapter will kind of make up for it, I thought it was time we got a little look into a certain someones head. I hope you like it and that it was worth the wait..

Liza's POV

Elizabeth watched as Sang drifted off to sleep, she hated how much she had suffered at the hands of that vile witch that dared to call herself Sang's mother. She was such a sweet, beautiful, smart young woman and she deserved so much better than that abusive woman, absent dad, and uncaring sister. She gave a small sigh and went over to the window, looking over at the house where her charge had been at just a couple hours ago. She had her suspicions about these boys, the odd little ways they seem to react, how they seem to instantly become attached to her Sang. If she was correct, if they really were Academy, then this may finally be Sang's chance of getting out of this hell hole.

Elizabeth remembered when she had been approached by them in her life, they had discovered she was a Historic, someone who could see the past of an object or place by touching it. They had tried to recruit her to the Academy, a school that focused on Gifted and used their best ones to help protect other Gifted from dark spirits, dark Gifted, or abusive family members. She had been curious about them and was considering joining them when she had met Daniel.

He had came in, swept her off her feet, promised her love, and a happy life, and she had believed him. They were engaged when she realized she was 3 weeks pregnant, though scared at becoming a mother at the young age of 20, the young woman had been thrilled with the thought of a beautiful son or daughter. She had planned a special dinner to announce her pregnancy and finally to tell her fiancee about her Gift, she had surprised him with it when he arrived home from another long week away for work. He had been pleased and had gone to the room to wash up and she grabbed his coat to place on the hook when she had felt the familiar rush of knowledge and pictures flood through her mind. Flashes of another woman's arms wrapping around it, happy laughter, a familiar male voice murmuring his love to someone that was not her, a small child tugging on the sleeve calling the owner daddy, a flash of the owner's hand reaching out to a female's, a matching wedding ring glinting in the light on both of their hands. One minute, that's how long it had taken her to view the images and to process them, one minute for her entire life to turn upside down and her heart to shatter into a million pieces.

She had stood there clutching his coat, tears filling her eyes, he had lied to her. There was no business trips, no extended trips to look for the perfect house for them, he had merely gone home. Home to his wife and child, home that was not here with her like he had always said it was. All of it had been one big lie, she dropped the coat and placed a hand on her stomach where their child was growing. She would now have to bring another innocent being into this lie and this broke her heart even further.

"I'll be right there beautiful, I'm just going to jump into the shower right quick." His voice sounded through the small apartment, making her blink out of her heartbroken trance.  "That is unless you would like to join me." The voice grew husky, that voice that had mere minutes ago made her shudder in desire and love, now made her angry. How dare he, how dare he come back from loving his wife and kid and pretend to love her too. Elizabeth took a deep shuddering breath, then yanked the engagement ring from her finger tossing it on the table, she couldn't stay here any longer. She grabbed her own coat, stepping over the one that had ruined her life and walked out of the apartment not bothering to say anything to the lying cheating bastard she left behind.

After that night, Elizabeth went home to her parents, where she had to tell them the whole heart breaking story. To say they weren't  pleased, but they took her in and ran interference when Daniel showed up trying to figure out what had happened. To say he was shocked at being found out would be an understatement, of course he nor her parents knew exactly how she had found out but, they didn't really ask. Daniel because he knew he was busted either way and her parents because the one time they had asked she had burst into tears and it had taken hours to console her.

The next eight months had been rough, Daniel had realized she was pregnant about her fourth month when he had caught up with her at the grocery store. He had tried to reason with her, using the baby as an excuse to at least to talk to him, but she had merely ignored him, gotten into her car and drove home. As it grew closer to her due date Elizabeth had to be put on bed rest as she got considerably weaker and sick. October 5th Elizabeth went into labor, she didn't remember much after arriving at the hospital other than spending several hours in extreme pain, she vaguely remembered that Daniel made an appearance, though she couldn't recall how he even knew she was there. October 6th, 1997 Sang Sorenson was born at 7:15 a.m, somehow Daniel had gotten the nurse to add his name to the birth certificate in all the confusion. Elizabeth had gotten to hold her beautiful daughter for a glorious five minutes where she memorized every toe and finger, every little scrunch of her newborn's nose, every little whine or sound her beautiful baby girl had made. Five minutes of fighting back her       light-headedness and shortness of breath, she would treasure those five minutes forever.

October 6th, 1997 at 7:25 a.m Elizabeth Thompson died, due to complications during child birth. She passed out after holding her daughter and did not wake up no matter what the doctors and nurses tried. During the distraction Daniel took baby Sang and left, he drove home to his wife and seven year old daughter and introduced Sang as his cousin's daughter who had no one else to take care of her and announced a job promotion out of state. Two days later the Sorenson family left leaving two grieving Thompson grandparents searching for their lost grandchild.

After she died, Elizabeth had woken up in a strange white room, a man was standing there waiting for her to acknowledge him and once she had, he explained to her how she had died. He then gave her the option of moving on or to remain on earth but as a spirit where no one but certain mediums, spirits of both good and evil would be able to see or talk to her. Elizabeth chose to go back, she had to find her daughter, she would watch over her Sang forever even if her daughter would never be able to see her. It wasn't until she was back on the earth plane, that she discovered that Sang had been kidnapped by her father. She spent the next five years searching for her daughter, she had finally tracked the Sorenson family to Illinois when she heard whispers of a Medium she had hoped that he or she would help her.

She had been searching for the Medium for about a week, when she did find her it was by accident. She had noticed the gathering of spirits and had grown curious. When she arrived she had been horrified to discover the small girl curled into a ball surrounded by anxious spirits screaming and yelling at her. Angry at such behavior she ran them off, then had crouched down to the small girl who had peeked out from her ball when the spirits had starting disappearing. As the one green eye met her own, she felt this ache in her heart and she knew, this was her daughter, this was Sang.

It took every ounce of will power not to announce who she was to the frightened girl. She merely smiled and introduced herself with her first name. She was extremely proud to learn that her baby girl had been Gifted, but saddened at how scared she was of it. After making sure was okay, she had followed the girl home where she found to her utter horror just how terrible her Sang was treated. The moment Sang had stepped inside, her step mother forced the girl to her knees, yelling about kidnappers and rapists to the five year old. Elizabeth had vowed she would do everything she could to protect her daughter and took up the official mantel of Medium's Guardian.

A Guardian was a Medium's protector obviously, they ran interference for the more pushy spirits and protected them from the darker Ones as well and taught them about their Gift. Each Medium gained one early on in the Medium's life, usually a friend or family member and they stayed with their charge for the Medium's entire life.

Elizabeth never told her daughter who she truly was, she was waiting for when Sang was old enough to understand. Now that the Academy may be near and she was befriending other Gifted, she knew it was time to tell her beautiful Song Bird who she was. Otherwise she would discover it by one of the Academy and she knew that would not go well. With a small sigh she looked over at the bed where her daughter slept praying she wouldn't have to suffer much longer.
