Shireen was going to take King's Landing. This completely altered everything in my plan. King's Landing hadn't been my home since I was a boy, but could I just let her lay siege to my mother's final resting place? My family was in King's Landing. Although it's not like my father would care, he loathed the very sight of me.

I could rise in the ranks of Shireen's army and gain high standing if she succeeds. I could even take my rightful place as King. But what if she failed? I could die for no reason. I had to come up with a plan.

As I was being escorted back to my chambers, I finally took notice of the banners hanging from the grey stone halls. It was a black stag on a yellow background. House Baratheon. Lady Shireen was Stannis' daughter. Could she have been the one who murdered my mother in the woods? She would have been very young at the time, but any daughter of a Baratheon would certainly know how to use a bow at a young age.

Another change in plans. I had to act as Colliff the peasant boy, not Eyan Baratheon. Colliff had no knowledge of who could have murdered the Queen. But through the guise of Colliff, I could uncover the truth about my mother's killer. And once I do, there will be hell to pay.

Something in that locked room should have the answer, however the room was always heavily guarded. I had to become a guard, which would require tremendous amounts of effort. It's a good thing I learned to become an excellent liar. My mother and I had that in common. I remember her lying all the time about my father's role in the battle against Stannis. Everyone believed he had led us to victory, but Mother told me he hid in his tent until she dragged him out. I knew I was not a coward like him, but brave and headstrong like my mother.

After realizing Shireen's lineage, I knew I could not let her take my city. I would do anything in my power to keep her from succeeding. I could poison her, if I had access to poison. But all I had was my horse and my sword.

I got to my room and took out a piece of parchment and a pen. "Dear Jaime," I wrote. "I have missed you so much. I don't have time to tell you why I left or where I am. It's been six years since I've been gone and everyone assumes I'm dead. Please tell no one but my father, if he still lives, that you received this letter. If I am caught sending it I will be killed. Please leave a reply with the messenger. Send back all that you know about my mother's murder. I believe I have found her killer.
-Eyan Baratheon, Heir to the Iron Throne

I slipped out of my room and went to the stables, letter tucked in my boot. I mounted Colliff and rode back to the inn I had been staying in. I located the inn keeper and pressed seven coppers into his hand along with the letter. I told him he was not to open the letter, but to take it to King's Landing and put it only in the hands of the Kingslayer. I then bid him good day and went to find a sellsword at the inn.

I saw the sellsword sitting nearest the door. I handed him 10 coppers and told him to follow the inn keeper. He was only to kill him if he witnessed him straying from the Kingsroad or opening the letter. I snuck back to the castle with no more money and an anxious mind.
