A Week Later

I had to take my SAT tomorrow so I decided to go to bed early. I'm spending the night at Lexi's house. I'm very stressed out and anxious. Just then, Lexi came into her room, where I was.

"Hi" She greeted me.
"Hi. Are you doing okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I think so. Thank you for making me feel better the othet day." She smiled.
"No problem." I smiled back.
"Wanna watch T.V? Y'know, you look kinda worried."
"Um, yeah, sure. I'll do anything to get this crappy test off my mind." I giggled.

So, Lexi switched on the T.V. The news was on.
"Today, on channel 8 news-"
"Ugh. The news is so boring." Lexi groaned.
"Wait. Switch it back. They sounded serious.. I said, my voice and expression full of interest.
Lexi sighed and switched it back to the news.

"At 11:00 P.M, a human test subject escaped from the Science Facility. The person was running very fast. Faster than what most humans can run. Judging by the crime scene, it appears that the person brutally attacked the married couple. The person also attacked the neighbors. People in the area said that the person was like a wild cannibal. Investigators discovered that there seems to be a chemical in the body of the cannibal, it's called, Aiõnios. Aiõnios, according to scientists, means 'lasting for an age.' Also, the surviving neighbors said that the names of the murdered couple are Joshua and Annika."

Everything froze. Joshua and Annika. The names of my parents.

"H-hey, I'm not trying to scare you or anything, but isn't that your address?"
I didn't anwser. I couldn't move.

I screamed. In fact I think I was having a panic attack. I couldn't breathe. I freaked Lexi out by doing this but I think after a few seconds she completely understood what had happened.

"J-just a c-couple of hours ago they were sitting with me at our kitchen table...... I..... I" I said in between sobs. Lexi held me close. She was trying to comfort me, but she couldn't hide how much she was shaking too.

And that was it. That is how the hell started. I didn't think things could get any worse, but they did. When I finally calmed down, I heard the reporter say to lock all doors and windows.

"I better go tell my mom and tell her to lock up. I'll be right back." Lexi whispered. I nodded and she left.
