I slowly opened my eyes but it was a struggle as they remained shut as if glued together. The glare from the sun shining from my bedroom window hurts my eyes so I fall back into the comfort of my pillow. My alarm goes off once again, I hiss at the sunlight, putting my hair into a messy bun( no I am not a vampire just a typical teenager ). I sluggishly get out of my bed and examine myself in the mirror. My curly black hair is all over the place and I can see dark circles under my brown eyes. I make my way into the bathroom where I take a quick shower, brush my teeth and change into my blue and black uniform. After brushing my hair I grab my school bag and make my way into the living room where I find my parents making breakfast. I sat down at the dining table and started to read my timetable for today. It was my first day at Lake Anderson High, after the first semester of year seven my parents got a job on the other side of the state therefore I had to move schools. I felt myself drifting asleep so I got up from the table and poured myself a cup of coffee. The human race is messed up in a lot of ways but at least we invented coffee, the heavenly liquid that enables you to feel energised even though you felt like you were going to collapse a moment ago.
"Good Morning Charlie! Are you ready for your first day" my mum asks as she pours herself a cup of coffee.
"Umm... I guess"
My dad stops drinking his coffee and suffocates me in a huge hug.
"You'll be fine Charlie"
"I can't breathe"
He lets go leaving me gasping for air to emphasise how tightly he hugged me.
After breakfast my mum drove me to school, I look out of the window to see the neighbourhood that we have moved to. When we moved two weeks ago my parents and I already explored the area but I still look around trying to not worry about my first day. But then because life decided to be a buttchicken (an insult my friends and I came up with instead of swearing ). Me trying not to worry ended up with me worrying. I feel it now, the fear tightening around me, my stomach tying itself into knots. I keep looking outside so my mum can't see me freaking out. I look out into the distance trying to trace the horizon with my finger. I didn't realise that we arrived at school until the car stopped, we talk to the front office receptionist who was really nice. It was time for my mum to go, she touched my cheeks and kissed my forehead.
"Good Luck"
"Thanks"
She gave me a hug and left for the exit. When my mum left the receptionist introduced me to the year nine advisor Mr Johnson. Mr Johnson greeted me with a handshake, he was fairly tall with strong arms and with neatly combed brown hair. He wore a black suit and looked like he was in his mid thirties.
"I'm sure you'll love it here" he said in a friendly voice.
"I hope so" I thought but instead I nodded shyly and followed him to my first class.
