robin,

remember the fourth time we skipped school just 'cause we could?

we were thirteen, as i remember. it wasn't a regular thing, it was because the maths teacher was particularly monotonous and boring that year. fortunately, we had mathematics as our last class, so we sat in class for attendance and then snuck out while the teacher wasn't paying attention to us.
that particular time, as i recall, we went to the ice cream shop a couple streets over from the school. you got chocolate and i got mint chip, as we always did.

and then you did something that you'd never done before, that i'd never done before.

you leaned over and put your sweet, chocolate-y lips on mine and kissed me.

i was startled at first, which must've shown, because you quickly pulled away, your cheeks tinted red. "i, um," your fourteen-year-old self said, scrambling for words. "i, uh, wanted your first kiss to be with someone who loves you, and who you you love." i love you incessantly, robin. "'cause i'll always be your best friend, aurelia. always."

i've always wondered if there was something behind that kiss that was a little bit more than just friendly love.

if there was, you never said anything about it, or ever did anything about it. and i, of course, was to afraid of being rejected by my best friend to act on my suspicions.

i guess it's the past, though. we were teenagers.

anyway, here's to teenage memories.

aurelia.
