"Okay so I've been reading up on some of the books your uncle kept, he knows quality hey! Anyway, compared to what Ashton says is in his journal I don't know where he's getting his information from. I mean he has a fair amount of books and so on but... I can't help but feel like I'm missing something. But I'll keep looking," Aurora informed me after a few days of slow reading and keeping out of Harry's way.
"Okay thanks, Ro. Are you going to the house tonight?" I asked as I dropped her off at her exam venue.
"No, I'm going back to my room to study. I'd be too tempted to read your uncle's journals," she said and scurried off to write.
I sat on a bench outside the building, taking in the warm sun. The campus was quiet, just a few bodies briskly walking either to their exam rooms or on their way home to study.
I laid across the bench, fully claiming it and closed my eyes. Most people knew me to be an art major so didn't expect 'normal' from me anyway.
Above the slight sound of a breeze and the occasional car passing by, I heard a cling and then a small, cold object land on my hand.
I quickly opened my eyes to see a dime resting on the back of my hand.
"Security must be slacking if hobos are openly lying on our benches," I looked up to see Kai standing in front of me, a smirk on his face.
I took the coin and threw it up at him. Laughing at his stupidity I moved my legs for him to sit, only to put them on his lap when he was comfortably seated.
"You waiting for Aurora?" He asked me as he hit my legs as if I was a drum set.
My eyes were closed again but I could hear the interest in his voice.
I smiled to myself."Yeah, she's my mistress and I thought I'd do something nice for her after the exam," I peeked through one of my eyelids. He chuckled a throaty laugh and shook his head. Continually making music on my legs.
"You're a real joker, miss Funny McFunnistan," he said tickling my stomach.
"No!" I said, going into complete attack mode.
After kindly applying two bruises I sat up and moved to the other end of the bench.
"What are you doing here, Kai Tanner?" I asked, playfully annoyed.
"Well Natalie Creed, I am in fact waiting for the princess," he said proudly.
"Oh! Is there something going on between you two?" I said, throwing my finger between him and the door Aurora went through.
"I wouldn't say we're a couple but... we're on the path," he nodded as he spoke, looking down as if suddenly embarrassed.
"The path?" I said, smiling at him even though he still blushed into his lap, "The path to righteousness?" I sang like I was a host of angels.
He laughed at my mocking, finally looking at me.
"Oh would you stop Dora!" He said.
I lost my smile.
"Did you just call me Dora the Explorer?"
"Yeah, you both have black short hair. Dora la Exploradora!" he said in a Spanish accent, throwing his hands up in excitement, trying to justify his statement. I was quickly fuming.
"My hair is not that short! Don't call me that!" I said, crossing my arms.
"Okay fine... senorita!" He said getting up to dodge my punches, "I'm sorry, I'll stop," allowing himself a last laugh.
