"That's what I think should be our main priority right now."

"And how do we do it? Where do we start?" Demitria asked me. We all sat in the small room with a small fire crackling in the dusty fire place.

"Well I was thinking we dig into all of the journals, see if he mentions it."

"That's no good, I've pretty much read all the journals. He doesn't mention any meetings or Ami's, let alone where he got a feather," Ashton answered from his bean bag chair with Kane's large head resting in his lap.

My heart sank at the news, but it took more than that to discourage me.

"Are you sure you got to all the journals? Maybe you forgot something in one of the older ones."

He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, it was his trademark for doing his best not to argue.

"I can check again," he finally answered.

"Good."

"And if it's not in there?" Blaze asked.

My heart skipped a beat at the large possibility that it might be the case.

"Then we go to the hospital and ask my uncle," most of them dropped their eyes to the floor at my answer.

"Hun, last time we checked he'd been in pretty bad condition. He might not remember. That is if they actually let us see him," Blaze put in. He'd been more skeptical than most the past few days.

"Have some faith bruh, what's with the questions?" Kai questioned his friend.

"I'm asking the right questions, okay. We're getting pretty deep into this."

"You signed up for it willingly remember?" Aurora chimed in, she stood leaning in the doorway of the small room.

"Yeah I know, and I'm all for helping you babe," he looked me in the eye, "but I'm not sure you're ready for some disappointment if this goes south."

"This isn't going to go south because no one's going to disappointment me. Guys we're playing with fiction, things go where we make it. This feather thing is just to make our story seem legit, might I remind you that we're proving the Earth flat? We're living science fiction. Blaze you're still welcome to leave, otherwise shut up and grab a journal."

Ashton smiled at my remark, Blaze slowly grew back his usual smirk. With a hint of uncertainty in his eyes he accepted my orders, if you could call it that.

"Well then, let's get looking!" He got up from his seat and patted me on the shoulder as he passed, "Good speech boss."

He snaked away to the basement to start on the journals.

Twenty-four years worth of journals had been split between the 6 of us, needless to say it was a lot of reading in time that should have been spent on our studies. But none of us had the motivation to prepare for our future.

...

A week had past and all journals had been thoroughly analysed.

Nothing but boredom and frustration had been achieved.

"Sorry Tal, but I'm not reading another word of Dr. Ira's messed up life," Kai said while throwing himself into one of the many camping chairs now perched in the new living room.

I sat down tiredly in one of them as well, sighing into my hands.

"Well then, we're paying a visit to my uncle."

I got up to throw some decent looking clothes on so I didn't look like a complete hobo in public. My baggy and torn pants looked the way I felt.

Some of my clothes had found its way into the spare bedroom cupboard so it was easy to make a quick change and make our way to my now decrepit uncle.
