•• REILLY's POV •
I was thrown roughly into a cage. Upon further inspection, the bar appeared to be constructed of bone. Whether human or animal, I didn't have the qualifications to say. In any event, it was most gruesome and terrifying.
I nearly died of fright when I caught something moving in at one of the corners. I swallowed a scream when it came to my attention that I was not alone in this prison. There were other women. Four to be exact. They were placed in here as though they were wild and isolated from each other at the corners of the cell.
I moved towards the area which I thought would be the safest. As it turns out it was near the wall between an elderly woman and her junior.
I opened my mouth, trying to think of something to say. My name? Offering comfort? How could I do that when the overwhelming urge to curl up in a ball and cry out my woes?
The mood that hung in the air was one of grief and nostalgia. All the women looked ruined despite their age or status. Their clothes were worn and unkempt and so were their hands, feet and the visible parts of their bodies.
Yes, it was night but the light from the celebration or whatever it was taking place a yards from the prison cast a glow of a bit of everyone's form and the rest wasn't difficult to imagine.
Basically, entire physical appearance needed a touch of care to revitalize its natural glow and vibrancy. Of the four who sat contained in a cell where they didn't belong, one cried to herself. She leaned against the wall at the corner. It was her subtle sobs that caught my attention. My heart ached for the girl. I crawled over to her figuring a bit of talk might do her some good placing my hand gently on her shoulder.
The girl flinched in fear stealing my gaze before her broken sobs became more noticeable as it escaped her. I couldn't help but wonder what had happened to her. She was such a young beauty under all the dirt and grease that stained her body and clothes. Her eyes were a startling jade colour which contrasted with her long dark hair and her skin, pale.
