GERARD's POV ••

Things could've been much worse. Reilly could've been paralyzed or ... The thought alone was enough to make my blood boil. Those Comanche had hurt my girl. We were lucky to even escape. I wanted to go return to there camp and avenge her but that would be an uncalculated move on my part. I had not the means nor the manpower and hands down I would rather be alive and well to be with Reilly than dead at the hands of a war.

I had no right but sometimes I thought maybe it was better that she didn't remember her immediate past because she had been through more than anyone I knew to this day.

Every chance I got, I thanked God Almighty that Reilly ... my baby ... was ok. Thank God that I would have the chance to make it up to her. To show her how much she meant to me. Sure I would want to kiss every moment of each day but I couldn't risk scaring her off. That was a small price to pay just to be able to hear that sweet voice again or get lost in those hypnotic honey eyes of hers.

This was my chance to make things right. I wasn't going to screw things up this time. I couldn't lose her again. That day at the diner all those months ago when we'd first met I could see why Reilly was at the top of the guys 'WANTED' list not that it justified what we had done. Heck, by no means did it make right but it sure was worth it. Had it not been for that bet I may not have met her.

Reilly was ... a breathe of fresh air. She was ... a woman of class despite her status. She could very well dine with the elite or wealthy and at the flip of a coin chat with the masses. She was innocent, pure and down to earth. She had a spunk that I found intriguing and a wit that made me bite my tongue. Not to mention, Reilly had the uncanny ability to make me laugh and stand in awe of her at the same time.

She was intelligible, fun regardless of common perception. She was the strongest person I've ever met as well as the most endearing. The list could go on and on and on ...but what was most important? The fact that she evoked, unlocked something within me that no woman before her and none after her could ever boast of. She awakened a desire in me to be more. I could only imagine a great future with Reilly in the equation ... one where I'd grant my parents their wish of having their grandchild ... and where I finally found myself a suitable partner to spend the rest of my life with.

I could see a future a long term relationship. The kind most women probably dreamed of. I certainly wouldn't mind waking up next to her in the morning or cuddling with her at late into the night. The thought of her consumed me and I felt like God had sent her my way.

Two in the afternoon, I began making my way down the hall to Reilly's room. I knew it was a long shot but I kept visiting her in hopes that she would remember me though I figured it wasn't that easy. Another reason I came was to show her even though I was a stranger to her now that I still cared for her. She'd been at the hospital for a week and still her father hadn't shown his face. Though he'd not been the best father to Reilly I thought that he owed it to her to be a father this once and care about her well-being.

My family wanted to see her but in Reilly's state it was clear that she was unstable ... in search of who to trust. The slightest thing could care her off and allowing my mother, father and my younger siblings to visit her may not be the best way to gain her trust.

Olivia had been involved in an accident on her journey to the hospital. She'd been crying on her way after she'd heard the news about Reilly. Olivia was warded in critical condition. I had visited her a few times as well to give her updates about Reilly. Her neck was in a brace neck-brace, her right hand and both feet were in casts limiting her movement. Charlie had gone off the rails. As much as he wanted to see her, he couldn't face her in her state. Not when she wouldn't recognize him. I had to talk him out of doing something extremely stupid like storming the Comanche tribe in a one man army.

Upon reaching Reilly's room, I noticed that her bed was made and the room was vacant. Immediate, one thing came to mind. I thought her condition had taken a turn for the worst. I raked my hands through my hair as tears began to build in my eyes. I went to the first doctor I saw.

"Where is she? Where is my Reilly?" He stared at me with nothing but a blank expression.

"Sir, I am not familiar with the patient you are referring to but you can check the information desk for that information." He replied. The name on his tag read Dr. Hayden Ames. Not a minute later, I found the information desk.

"Can you tell me what happened to a patient by the name of Reilly Jones?" I asked the brunette behind the desk.

"I'm sorry Sir I can-" I was at my wits end. I had to know what happened to her.

"-Where is the HELL she?" I growled interrupting her mid-sentence.

"Give me a moment." The woman replied a bit startled. I didn't mean to scare her but I felt like I was about to loose my mind. "She was discharged at twelve thirty."

"Oh thank God." I ran along the halls. The last thing I heard was her calling after me but I didn't stop I had to see her.

I had no way of trying to getting to her. My truck was probably back at the ranch after all it had been Jonah who had driven us to the hospital that night. As I ran in my hospital gown towards the entrance a car rolled by and I was tempted to commandeer the vehicle only to see that it was Charlie. His face looked drained but it lit up a bit at the sight of me.

"Gerard, what the hell are you doing out here? Shouldn't you be resting?" Charlie called.

I got in the car to see him looking at me as though I was insane. "Reilly was discharged."

Without much prompting, Charlie swiftly made a U turn before exiting the hospital. She wouldn't go to the ranch because she wound have to tangible memory of it and consider she couldn't even remember me the first place she would go was her home.

Before he could fully pull aside I opened the door causing him to yell in protest. I was up the porch in the blink of an eye and I would've been there quicker if not for my bloody injury. The door was left ajar causing me to become suspicious. Was her father at home? Did something happen?

"Reilly?" I cried only to gather no response.
