A week had passed, and Jennie was out of the hospital. She decided that she would go to the police station. She was on crutches, so it was kind of hard for her to get around. Jennie didn't want any special attention, so she made up her mind that she would go late at night when everybody was already at home.

At 11:30 pm, she went in. She was curious about how the case was going, so she went to Detective Ollie's desk to look at the files on the murder.

Jennie searched Detective Ollie's desktop but found nothing on the case. She was determined to find the files she went through his drawers. Again, she found nothing on the case, but there was one drawer left with a lock on it. It was the bottom right hand drawer. She had heard that he kept secrets in that one, so she had never opened it before as not to invade his privacy. But it was time.

She tried to open the drawer. Locked. 'Come on Jennie. Think! Think! Think! Where would he hide the key?' Jennie stood there and thought for a moment. 'Well, he's a very intelligent man, so he would know that people would expect it to be somewhere extremely hard since he's so smart. So then he would put it somewhere so easy that it's hard, as he would put it. So it's gotta be out in the open somewhere that nobody would think to look. Like....the floor! Of course!' So Jennie bent down and sure enough, in the corner of the desk boards, the key was taped to the floor, right underneath his mini-mat that fit perfectly under his desk.

Jennie grabbed the key and opened the drawer. The first thing she saw was a folder labeled "Murder, Allison Drive Back Alley" so she picked it up happy to have finally retrieved what she had been desperate for. But there was something else that caught her eye.
