I thought I wouldn't get anymore jumpscares today. Clearly, I was wrong.
The gang and I had an impromptu hangout today, organized by Haven. Everyone managed to make it except for Joey, who wouldn't answer his phone, and Daniel, who decided to be a hermit crab today.
Everyone gathered at my house ; Haven brought her collection of horror movies which many of us have been dying to watch, Meredith and Alexis brought snacks which included popcorn and nachos and many more that made my stomach growl in hunger and anticipation.
"Let's get this party started!!!" Shane yelled.
"YESSSS!!!"
We girls pilled up on the couch while Shane just decided to watch the movies from the comfort of the shaggy carpet. He sprawled on the floor with a huge bowl of popcorn in his stomach.
"So what do we watch first?" Meredith asked.
"Nothing. Let's just watch nothing. You guys know I hate horror movies. If I get nightmares tonight, I'm so murdering you guys." Alexis said, laughing.
We finally decided on watching The Conjuring although people like Haven and Meridith had already watched it like... a million times.
~ 30 minutes into the movie ~
*piercing screams*
"OMG guys its just the little girl"
"She looked like a ghost to me. Stop judging"
"SHUT UP GUYS ITS GETTING TO THE SCARY PART"
*SCREAM*~ At the end of the movie ~
"That was seriously scary", Mer commented.
Haven giggled. "Yeah Mer. It shows on your hair." She points to the popcorn decorating her hair like a Christmas tree.
Mer plucked a popcorn out of her hair and popped it into her mouth. "Mmm" she said. "Delicious"
I scrunched up my face in disgust. "Did you even wash your hair?"
She just grinned at me and continued plucking the popcorn from her hair. I rolled my eyes amd started to get up to change the movie when the doorbell rang. I didn't have to look at the others to know that they had elected me to get the door since I was already up.
I stretched my bones and I felt like an old woman. The doorbell rang again, almost impatiently. I shuffled towards the door, purposely dragging my feet. I peek through the peephole and saw Kai and Rae.
Why were they here only after the movie?
I opened the door a crack and asked for the password.
"Shawn Mendes." was Rae's quick answer. I kept a serious face on and nodded. I opened the door to let Rae in, but I glared at Kai. She held up two tubs of Baskin Robbin's ice cream.
"It's peanut butter and chocolate", Kai said, looking at me with those puppy eyes.
"And strawberry cheesecake," Rae grinned, knowing that they had already won me over. I hummed in approval and welcomed them in. While they brought their ice cream to the living room, I took enough cups and spoons for everyone.
Once we all had our share of ice cream, I turned to see Haven inserting a DVD.
"What are we watching?"
Alexis grabbed the bowl of popcorn and settled it infront of her with a huge grin. "The Ring," she said mysteriously.
Kai raised her eyebrows at their choice of a horror movie. I guess she had seen it and didn't like it. I just shrugged and settled myself on the couch with my cup of ice cream in one hand and a packet of Oreos in the other. Rae took a seat next to me and I could see her eyeing the Oreos in my hand. Typical.
The movie started and I opened the packet of Oreos, putting it on my thigh so Rae could take some.
Three bowls of popcorn and Nachos and Cheerios and a huge amount of Oreos and ice cream later, the movie went by smoothly, if we didn't include the incident with the Doritos. All of us have sworn not to say anything about it. Not like the pledge will hold anyway.
I could hear Shane asking Kai about the title of the movie and Kai laughed and told him that the title was referring to the phone rings and not the jewelry rings. Shane said it was a sucky name, and we all agreed. We were all laughing at Meredith trying to imitate the rings from the movie and Alexis commented that there was no way that would ever happen in real life when...
...Ringgggg
Everyone froze on the spot as the phone continued ringing. We didn't know whose phone it was, as no one would ever put that kind of ringtone, and it wasn't my house phone either.
The suddenly, Haven facepalms and brings out her new phone, which so happens to be ringing. She grinned apologetically at us and answered the phone. It wasn't a phone call to tell you that you have a week left to live. I could tell from her expression. But it wasn't something good either. The call ended, and Haven looked at us with serious eyes.
"Joey called. He said he had something to show us and it didn't sound good."
