This is it. I stood at the bottom of the path to my final salvation. Wolf sat beside me, tail wagging in anticipation, those beautiful doggy eyes staring at me. Looking at those eyes gave me strength to complete this final task and be a free man. I patted Wolf on the head, his doggy eyes wishing me luck. I took a few deep breaths. I put on my armour and brandished my weapon. Wolf gave me a low whine, and I steeled myself in determination. Once I was ready, I charged...
... straight into the dusty attic.I coughed a little, my face mask didn't do much to protect my mouth and nose from the dust. I knew I should have bought a new one. It's a good thing I was wearing goggles and a head covering. I opened the tiny little window that I swore I had never seen before! Was this window always part of this house? Storm just propped his white fluffy body at the windowsill, as cloud of dust puffed up.
I started dusting away dust and cobwebs and lizards and ewww, was that slime? When I was finally done, the attic looked like the ones that you see in the movies, where people always find some treasure map or a clue to help with the plot of the story. Then I had an idea so bright, I thought I saw a corner I missed. But I'm not going to do that yet. First, it was time for treasure - hunting!
... was what I liked to say, but everything in here is antique! There are things that could only sell for so much on eBay, and there are things that could make me rich if I found a rich person who collects antiques. I did find a brush though, it could replace the one I dropped in the toilet bowl.
I decided to go through one last box before I give up and cleaned that dusty corner. At this point I'm hoping that this last box contains something that interests me and not be another box of porcelain dolls - those dolls were creepy! I had sealed the box again the second I saw the dolls inside - or a box of old game consoles - I guess my ancestors were collectors back then.
I opened the box and to my great relief, it was filled with dusty old books that were probably as ancient as my great-great-granddad. I could only hope that it wasn't in a different language. I picked up one and flipped through it when I found something wedged between the pages.
I took it out and was surprised to see a letter addressed to... to me!?! I quickly opened and read it. When I saw who it was from, I froze. My eyes widened as the letter fell from my fingers, but my mind was racing so much that it didn't notice. How strange it feels to call my brain an "it"... A cold feeling washed over me and my mind could only process one word.
"What?"
