"Crap!" I screeched in pain as I landed on the carpet beside Emily's guest bed resulting in a loud thud. Being an active sleeper, I fall off beds quite often. Doesn't mean I was used to it. I opened up my clenched eyes and stared at the cream colored ceiling for a while before stretching my arms to grab my phone that was on the bedside table. It was 7:36 in the morning. I groaned in annoyance knowing that now that I'm awake, I won't be able to sleep again.
"I hate myself." I whispered fiercely to myself. I began scrolling through my Twitter feed and heard my stomach growl. Oh shut up, I thought, as if my stomach would actually listen. It growled again and I sighed and decided it was time to get up. I quickly changed into black jean shorts and a graphic tee before quietly walking around Emily's apartment to make sure she and Mikaela were still sleeping. Sure enough they still were, despite my loud awakening. I walked into the small and stylish kitchen and began to make myself an omelet with the food I found while scavenging around. Emily had decorated the kitchen with cute little canvases with quotes like "excuse the mess, we're making memories". The kitchen soon began to take in the lovely fragrance of food and it instantly reminded me of home. Even though it's been a day since I've seen my family, I already miss them. Before I knew it, the omelet was done and I swiftly flopped it onto a plate.
"I haven't used that kitchen in forever!" Emily exclaimed from behind me, causing me to jump.
"Sorry, did I wake you up?" I said after recovering from the surprise.
"The food." She explained staring at my plate. I guess I should make another one.
"shut up.." Mikaela's sleepy voice complained from the couch. Okay I guess I should make two more. Emily gave me a "oops" face.
"Here Emi you can have it." I gave Emily the plate, ignoring Mikaela.
"At least make me food too.." The whiny voice continued. Playfully rolling my eyes, I began making more food.
"I'm one step ahead of you betch." This day is going to be so much fun.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Its literally impossible to be bored in this city!" I said, stretching my legs so they don't fall asleep.
"Says the girl who just got back from New York." Mikaela giggled. I smiled and continued scrolling down the tourist website for Los Angeles. I've been going to college at NYU and living the life of a full-scholarship student for the past four years, and loved it for every moment. Well, almost every moment.
"England was probably not the most boring place either I assume." Emily said from behind us, trying to figure out what to wear. Mikaela turned towards her to help her.
"Ooooo look! A skate park!" I screeched causing my best friends to jump. I knew bringing my skateboard was a good idea.
"Mili, you don't skate." Mikaela scoffed. Oh yeah, I never told them about Kaleb, so they wouldn't know about me skateboarding.
"Um, well, you'd be surprised all I learned after 4 years in the Big Apple." I swiveled around to face them while still sitting on Emily's fluffy chair, Emily raised her eyebrow and Mikaela rolled her eyes. I widened my eyes in a way to show honesty.
"Knowing you, probably not much." Mikaela teased and Emily jokingly punched her arm.
"I'm sure you skateboard like a pro. Like Toby Eagle or whatever his name is." Emily comforted me. Mikaela burst out laughing and I rolled my eyes. "What? What's so funny?"
"His name is Tony Hawk, Emily." Her cheeks flushed red in embarrassment and she joined Mikaela's laughter as I just sighed at my uneducated-about-skateboarding friends.
"Close enough! Anyways, let's go see what you learned and me and Mikaela-"
"Mikaela and I," Mikaela corrected her. She's such a grammar nazi.
"Mikaela and I will catch up on other things while you show off your skills." Emily finished her sentence after rolling her eyes at Mikaela.
"Sounds like a deal." I smiled widely at my friends before getting my red converse on as well as finding my skateboard with worn grizzly tape on it.
*Flashback*
"Kaleb! I'm ready to learn your ways of cool transportation by standing on a piece of wood with wheels on the bottom!" I screamed from the top of the stairs before running down them to embrace him in a bear hug. I smiled into his chest before he pulled me away to examine my "ready-for-action" body.
"Umm.. No you aren't." Kaleb said after scanning me with his deep blue eyes. He took off his helmet releasing his flawless dark brown hair and handed it to me. "Don't even raise that eyebrow at me, Mili. I don't want you to get hurt."
"Oh, please.. It can't be that hard." I answered while smirking. I put on the helmet and ruffled his hair quickly.
"We'll see about that." He said, winking while tossing me knee pads.
*flashback over*
My eyes stung with tears thinking of the memory.
"Mili? Hurry up!" I shook my head and replied quickly.
"Um, sorry. Be right there!" Then I jogged over to the door where the girls were waiting.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
We finally arrived at the skatepark, which was dominated by teenage boys with long hair and bad acne.
"Gross." Emily fake gagged.
"Let's not." Mikaela complained.
"Come on! Just for a little bit!" I was used to the teenagers by now, all the skate parks seemed to be plagued with wannabe skater boys. As I began putting on my helmet, I could feel people staring. I smiled and began using my skateboard, the boys impressed as there aren't many girls who skateboard.
"You go girl." Emily's words of support reached me and I looked at her and Mikaela and began doing Ollie's, which were fairly easy. I giggled as they were already impressed. I wiggled my eyebrows at my friends and then began pumping up a ramp and began riding fake while pretending to yawn, making the girls laugh. I pumped back up the ramp with more force and did an Axle Stall. The girls were screaming and clapping by this point and I burst out laughing looking at them. Suddenly their faces changed and they started yelling my name. I gave them a confused look before hearing a loud voice a little too close to my comfort zone.
"WATCH OUT!" I turned around but it was too late. I had collapsed with someone who had on way too much cologne. I felt the air leave my lungs and I gasped to retrieve it when I hit the cement hard.
"Shit.." I whimpered, rolling around in pain. Where the hell is Kaleb with the knee pads when I needed him?
"Oh my god I'm so sorry." It was the same guy that ran into me, his voice wasn't as loud and annoying as before, but his scent was still too much for my poor nostrils. I was lifted up onto my feet by strong hands and I shushed them.
"No, it's my fault. I was kind of distracted.." I replied, looking down at my bloody knee. When I looked up I found concerned hazel eyes staring right at me. Huh, not that bad of a person to run into. He had tan skin, and a bruise on his arm. He must've landed on his Skateboard. Ouch.
"MILI HOLY SHIT ARE YOU OKAY?" Then, I was taken away with the aid of my best friends.

A.N.
Ok, don't get used to these because I probably write these often. So the vid above is someone doing an Axle Stall and as you can see, it's not even that "hard-core" of a trick, which is why my character thought it was so funny that Mikaela and Emily were so impressed. Who knows, maybe they were just trying to distract me on purpose? Lol find out next chapter with Mikaela's POV (; And you guys probably won't read thru this anyway But yeah sorry for the kinda short chapter.. I just wanted to say thanks for reading! Love you all :*
