I stifled giggles as Mili desperately tried to figure out the menu.
"I DON'T FUCKING GET IT. THIS IS ALL BULLSHIT!" She yelled, but managed to not cause a scene. I admire her for that.
"Okay, no, we already ordered our drinks, so you just have to order your food. This is America." Mikaela explained, and I tried to cover my growing laughter.
"Well why is it all in fucking Swahili?" Mili desperately searched through the menu, while Mikaela, also desperately, tried to help her.
"You mean French?" I offered, barely getting it out before laughing again. I could feel my face getting red, so I drank some water and felt embarrassed.
"Yeah, I know what the hell it is." Mili grumbled, while Mikaela calmly explained a dish to her.
"Mili, the menu description is in English!" Mikaela sighs exasperated.
"You expect me to believe that this bechamel shit is English?" She hissed.
"Okay I know you're going to like this, just order it." MIkaela pointed to a random spot on the menu and explained the dish to Mili who's smile grew with each appetizing word.
"Why didn't you just show me this in the first place?" She scolded Mika.
"I did! But you slapped my hand because I was 'butting into' your 'spontaneous cultural learning experience.'" Mikaela mocked Mili, and I was dying of laughter.

Later on, in the evening, we were just relaxing, because Mili's knee hurt too much for us to go out. Mikaela was in the kitchen, because she was trying to prove to us that she could cook an entire chocolate cake in under forty five minutes. Including the thirty minute baking time. She was rushing around the kitchen, while Mili and I were just talking about the most random things. But mostly we were just waiting for cake.
"Mili, tell us more about this boy." Mikaela yelled from the kitchen.
"Yeah, seriously. You can't drop a bomb like that and then stop talking. It's rude." I teased her.
"Fine, whatever. I'll tell you later, it includes a bit of a story." She explained and I nodded. Mikaela had totally moved on from us and was screeching as she had only five minutes until she had to put the cake in the oven.
"What about your guy Em?" Mili turned to me.
"Yeah! The one who you don't know what's going on with him!" Mikaela exclaimed, walking over and sitting down on the couch next to me.
"Um, well. I met him in class. He was so cute, and he totally distracted me from my final exams. But anyway, I asked him if he wanted to go out and he said sure. But apparently I didn't explain how serious I wanted to get, because he thought we were going out as friends." I said, becoming embarrassed again. My whole life is just an embarrassment.
"Why? Who goes on friend-dates, he should've known? Any guy would've known what you meant." Mili said, a little aggravated.
"Any straight guy would have." I said simply. Mikaela looked at me with wide eyes.
"Oh my God, Em." She said, shocked. Then she started laughing.
"Why is it funny?" Mili looked up at Mikaela, then her eyes darted back to me.
"Because he was a homosexual, Mili." I teased and said slowly for her.
"Oh yeah I knew that." She stuck her tongue out at me and I did the same to her.
"Alright, children, that's enough." Mikaela fake-scolded us.
"Yeah, okay whatever." Mili rolled her eyes then pulled out her phone and began scrolling. Mikaela looked at me then.
"How did you know he was gay?" She asked. Great, another conversation about this. I had told my whole family, including my cousin, Alex. Who also thought it was extremely hilarious.
"Well, at first there was his lock screen. There was a big shirtless photo of-"
"ZAC EFRON! ROBERT PATTINSON! LIAM HEMSWORTH! CHRIS HEMSWORTH!" Mili screeched from the arm chair.
"...David Archuleta." I said, and Mikaela burst out laughing at Mili's disappointed face.
"What? I know what gay people like. What can I say?" She said, with a little smile.
"We all know what gay people like. It's boys." Mikaela said to her sarcastically.
"Well, it was basically just like I was in middle school. I picked up every little thing. His non spoken 'no touching' rule, but he was very into bear hugs. How did I manage to have a crush on every gay guy locally, and still have a little room for gay celebrities? And now this? Man, I should've known." I sighed and sat back in my couch. I wasn't sad, just disappointed. I had gone without a boyfriend since a stupid high school guy in junior year. Who I then promptly dumped me, because if I live in Wisconsin I should really being saying 'pop' instead of soda, and it was making his family uncomfortable to have me around.
It was a small town, what can I say. That's why as soon as I graduated, I got out of there.
I shook my head and returned my attention back to reality. Mili and Mikaela were momentarily arguing about who was the cutest gay YouTuber, so I just stayed out of that conversation, because Lord knows I'd have to much to say on that subject.
"Okay, but seriously, Dan and Phil are dating." Mikaela said, dead eyes on Mili.
"Yeah, totally. And you, me, and Emily are dating because we stay in an apartment together. Stop with that dumb logic!" Mili's voice got more aggressive with every word, and I was dying of laughter, since I was in the middle of them.
"Shut UP, you know NOTHING! Phan is SO canon!" Mikaela answered back. I turned back to see Mili fuming in the arm chair, but I knew they were just having fun, because I could see the hint of a smile at the ends of her lips.
Mikaela smiled when Mili's grew bigger and we all joined each other in laughter.
"You guys are so stupid, I'm glad you're mine!" I exclaimed, as we collapsed on the floor together.
