Bride

She lay still on the stale covers of my bed,
Nothing but white bandages covering where she had bled.

The crook of her neck laid still on my right arm,
Her emerald eyes frozen open in sadistic alarm.

"Can you hear me, my love?" I called to my new bride.
"Yes" her voice came not from her lips, cracked and dried.

I cringed at her crimson dyed wedding gown,
crumpled and tossed by the bed's frame.

The dress was quite expensive, so it really was a shame.
White never suited her, it was always red, brighter than a fire's flame.

You see my love, you are much more prepossessing now,
Cold and red, covered in bills, this is what you get for spouting lies for the vow.

But I will still love you, and care for you till my eternal parting,                                                              Keep your body by my side, as my life as a sinner is starting.

I don't regret what I have done to you, but I know you will soon rot.
Your eyes will decay into your skull, and you will be no longer beautiful to me.

Then what shall I do? Oh I wonder!
I could cover you in paints and mask your true thunder.

I can buy you anything, shroud you in silks to hide your gore,
I will keep your love for my wealth as a forgotten lore.

I'll rebuild you again my love, this time you'll be perfect.
Your heart no longer beats, but that will be our little secret.
