That Shouldn't Be too Hard Right? (2)

"Honey! I'm hooomee!" says my father

"Dad, I'm your daughter nothing else," I said through gritted teeth.

"Mmhh, sure you are" he says with a smirk and an evil glint in his eyes. "I'm going downstairs to grab something. Don't follow," but I already knew what was downstairs in the basement...drinks.

Incase you haven't realized it yet,  my dad's an alcoholic, and a big one at it. After he gets home he either goes straight to the basement and drinks until he passes out or before he goes down he'll beat me. Nothing major, just a blow to the stomach or a slap across the face. If I'm lucky all he'll do is trip me so that I fall onto our concrete floor.

Ever since my mom died in a car crash 4 years ago my dad has changed. He no longer was the peppy, go to, always there for you kinda dad.

He started drinking, and at first that's all he would do but then as time went by he would start to beat me... thank goodness nothing too major...yet.

"Ahhh!" I assumed was my father screaming from downstairs either from agony or from him falling or hurting himself on the low ceiling.

I just ignored it and went along with my homework upstairs. That's the only place that I feel safe, even if it's on the 2nd floor of our house, it's the only door with a lock that my father can apparently break... not that I am complaining in any way.

If at any point that I think my dad might do something awful to me I sprint up our narrow stairs and make a beeline straight to my room and lock the door.

I also put my desk in front of it just for more closure on feeling safe.

----------------------------------------------

By about 1 am my dad had finally passed out on the couch which meant that i was clear to go to sleep, as i walk to my twin sized bed...it may be small but its so soft.

As i lay in my bed the only thing that was flooding my mind was my fearful encounter with Luke Parker, and how his eyes softened up for a split second (for what i assumed was that he saw it was me) but what do i know...nothing and id like to keep it that way with this particular subject.

But also i couldn't help but notice something else in his eyes, even after they went back to their usual state of being hard and icy there was something else there but i just can't put my finger on it.

It scares me though...i want to be able to figure him out but at the same time i want to keep as much distance from him as possible.

"This is too much stress for me to be thinking about this late at night," I think to myself. I can only hope that i won't have a repeat of what happened today. That's all i can possibly do besides avoid Luke Parker at all costs. That shouldn't be too hard right?
