Jake's POV
I really had to tell her soon. About both me being her mate and... The other thing. I mean, I couldn't keep it hidden forever, and she was a smart little fighter so it wouldn't be long before she found out. Once again, my mind drifted to her as I watched her walk away with Forrest. Lowly, I growled. She spent way too much time with him. I couldn't let her get hurt; but I couldn't let her find out about her beloved friend.
I bet he was just acting; he probably wanted something from her.
Almost unconsciously my eyes drifted to her body, ravenously raking over her curves and gorgeous legs. I groaned; what do you expect me to look at- I'm a guy!
But I really did have to make sure she didn't find out; that she didn't find out why I was here, why I was an Alpha at such a young age, and how much I could put her in danger.
Angelina's POV
"Thanks, Forrest!" I shouted, turning back to wave as I ran from his old truck to my house. He returned it with a grin and sped off, leaving a dust cloud behind him.
"Hi, Mum." I hugged my mum hello as usual, not mentioning anything about all that had happened recently. Then a thought struck me- what if she was a werewolf too? Great, another mystery to solve.
But I had made up my mind to find out more about Jake- and the best way to start off with that was probably going to visit him. Only I didn't know where he lived.
After changing into some more comfortable shorts and shirt, I dialed Jake's number; which he insisted on being in my phone.
"Hello?" Jake's husky voice answered.
"Um, yeah. Hi." I mumbled, suddenly shy. He sounded so businesslike.
"Angel?" His voice softened.
"That's me..." I smiled a bit. I wonder if he knew that I knew that... I was supposedly his mate...
"What's wrong?" Now his voice was full of concern, almost demanding.
"Nothing, I just wanted to know where you live." Was that too straight out?
"Why?" Jake's voice chuckled. Shivering, I rolled my eyes. God, why did his laugh make my heart go all weird and skittery?!
"Just because." I answered. "Pleaseeee." I added in my most pleading voice. At once his breathing hitched and he groaned a little- I smirked slightly to myself.
"Angel, don't use that voice on me." He breathed.
"But I- I just w-want to know where y-you live." I said again in a begging tone.
"23 Samuels Road." He answered quickly. "But I'm not home now."
"Oh. Okay." I answered. "Bye!"
HA, that sucker was so easy.
Within minutes I was running up the road, crossing the intersection and running some more. I knew Samuels Road well because my best friend had used to live there before she moved.
Under me, the ground seemed to skim past. I'd always known I was fast, but I was actually sprinting and it didn't hurt a twinge!
Finally, I got to his house and was surprised at it's enormous size.
Hesitantly I pressed the doorbell- what if everyone was all posh?!
"Hey." A guy appeared a few moments later. His black hair hung over his eyes, making them unreadable.
"Yeah. Hi. I'm Angel..."
"Angel? As in, Jake-Plus-Angel?" He smirked.
"No." I snapped. "Um, I don't know."
