"I'm not a monster!" Percy protested.

"That's exactly what a monster would say." Annabeth rolled her eyes.

"I doubt the monster could be dumber than me." Percy argued.

"I'm pretty sure-wait, did you just insult yourself?"

"Maybe. Not the point. Can we pleeeeeaaaase get to camp before an actual monster attacks?"

"If you're really a demigod, you can go through this border."

"I can!" Percy cheered as he made a big show of jumping through the border.

"Good job, idiot."

"But what about Seaweed Brain?" Percy joked before he realized what he said.

"What?"

"Never mind." Percy sighed.

"First, you have to go talk to Chiron." Annabeth told him.

The two trudged through camp grounds to the Big House.

"Chiron, Percy Jackson insists he's a demigod. He got through the border, so I believe him, but-"

"Okay, that's good enough, Annabeth." Chiron said in his stern...Chiron-y way.

The Big House was exactly as Percy remembered, Pinochle cards scattered on the table, photo frames jumbled on the walls. Mr.D was absent, Percy recalled him going back to Olympus sometime after he and Annabeth had gotten together for a break.

"Chiron," Percy began. "Can you please tell me what's been going on?"

"I'm sorry my boy, I'm afraid I have no idea what you mean." Chiron shook his head. He swiveled his wheelchair towards Annabeth.

"Annabeth, can you please leave?"

She nodded, but on her way out, she gave Percy a look he remembered all too clearly. One that said, you better tell me what happens.

Percy nodded and he wondered if Annabeth was dating anyone.

"Percy, I don't know what you dreamed, but this is what's been happening in the past five years. Luke Castellan, son of Hermes, tried to wake Kronos a few years ago. He died in the process and Kronos didn't ever rise. Soon after, we received word from my cousins that Gaea was rising. That turned out to be a rumor. Two news campers named Leo and Piper arrived, but they soon vanished. We sent Jason Grace, from Camp Jupiter, our ally, to go find them but he disappeared. We sent two more campers named Hazel and Frank, but they disappeared as well." Chiron said, his voice growing more serious as me narrated.

"What now?" Percy asked.

"We were going to send Annabeth. Nobody else is willing to go, now we have to send her alone."

"What if I went with her? I could prove myself and we could even take BlackJack." Percy asked.

"First of all, you must be claimed first. I don't know how you know about BlackJack, but he's been a little...crazy for the past few months. Nobody is able to come near him or talk to him."

"My dad is Poseidon." Percy answered in response to Chiron. "And I'll talk to BlackJack."

"Unlikely you're a son of Poseidon, but I'll allow you to lend a hand with BlackJack. If you calm him down, I'll send you on the quest with Annabeth."
