It was the beginning of my first year of high school. It had already been two weeks since school started and there were a few new students starting late. One of them just so happened to be in my first class of the day. I sat at my desk drawing before class had actually started. I was drawing a chibi version of Rin, a character from my favorite anime, Blue Exorcist. I hardly bothered to look up from my drawing when the bell rang.
"Good morning, class," my science teacher announced. "We have a new student here today!" I drew some precise lines and missed part of what the teacher said. "Please make sure that you give him a warm welcome!"
Although she most likely said his name, I didn't quite catch it. Then again, I didn't really care at that moment. I was very focused on my drawing.
I glanced over to where he was sitting just for the heck of it. He was wearing a blue hoodie and jeans. At first, his hair appeared black but seemed to have a very deep blue tint to it. 'He most likely dyed it blue in the summer and it's fading away now' I thought to myself.
I became a little more curious about this new student. I continued drawing the entire time class was going on.
The bell rang, which meant 1st period was over. I stood near the doorway while everyone left. I looked at the new kid as he started to leave. It would've bothered me all day if I never knew his name so I decided to ask him.
I tugged on to the sleeve of his hoodie and he looked at me. I said, "Hey, I didn't quite catch your name earlier. My name's (y/n). What's yours?"
I realized that this new student was actually pretty good looking. That was a first, considering most of the boys I had fallen for were anime characters. He actually resembled a certain anime character I liked...
"My name's Rin. Rin Okumura. Nice to meet you, (y/n)," he said. He grinned and walked out of the room.
I stood there in complete shock.
