Have We Met?

Yukio narrowed his eyes and focused on my nervous appearance. "Have you attended True Cross before? I don't remember seeing you there," he said.

"Ah, no, but I was planning on transferring there a while ago but decided to stay here," I lied, trying to keep an awkward conversation from happening.

Imagine it. What would happen if a fictional-character-gone-real knew they were made up? There would probably be great consequences. How would they even be able to live anymore? Would they?

I was brought back to reality when Yukio said, "Aw, that's a bummer. True Cross is a great school. Then again, this school isn't all that bad either."

I felt guilty for lying to him but I knew it was for his own good. If I'd told the truth, how would he react? 

"Listen, Yukio," I quietly began after a moment of silence. "I know a lot about you. I'm not sure how to explain the reason I know so much about you, neither do I want to explain, I just want you to know that I do. I know your brother has special powers." 

My voice fell to a whisper that was barely audible to human ears. "I know who your father is, too," I whispered in a grim tone.

"What?!" Yukio whispered back in disbelief. "How do you-?" He was silent for a moment. He adjusted his glasses and said, "I trust that you have a good reason for not wanting to explain it."

I nodded. "I can tell you more later," I said as English class continued.

The bell rang and English class was over.
