Jake's POV:

As I walked into the cafeteria, I looked down at Clara. She was walking right beside me, with her head down. Her frames had started to slip again, and I felt like reaching down and fixing them.
She's so beautiful.
I felt myself warm up at the thought, she looked up at me and I felt my face start to burn even more. Her pale cheeks turned a bright red. She gave me a small smile. I did my best to return it. We hadn't really talked much, I hadn't even told her my name yet. I wondered if she thought I was weird. Maybe I was too akward, maybe I was-.
I was snapped back to reality when she said something under her breath. I had barely heard it, but I was so glad I did.
"God, does everyone here have perfect vision except for me?" I cracked a smile. Then the words just came tumbling out.
"Yeah, but don't worry you look really pretty with glasses."
I clapped a hand over my mouth, she looked up at me in surprise. Her cheeks turned even more red.
"Uh-i um- we-well, uh-th-th-thank y-you?"
She looked down at her feet again, we sat at a table.
We didn't talk for a while, then I finally broke the silence.
"We should probably g-go, um get, uh lunch."
She looked up at me and her eyes widened.
I looked down, what did I do? Was it something I said? What if i-
"You-you-you have an a-accent!" I could hear the smile in her voice. I looked up at her, I was confused.
"You just, um noticed?"
She gave me a shy smile, she nodded. I just stared at her. My accent was usually what people (mostly girls) noticed first. She had started blushing again under my gaze. I looked away, "Um, yeah, I'm from, uh England."
I had been living here for a long time, but the accent had never really left me. I saw it as a curse.
She smiled, I smiled back. I felt confident for some reason, it took this as a chance to tell her my name.
"I'm Jake."
She smiled even wider, "Well Jake, thank you for helping me today. You didn't have to."
I thought my face was on fire before? It was even worse now!
"Um, uh i-it was, uh my p-p-pleasure."
She giggled, "Come o-on, lets go get lunch."
I nodded
We got our food, and settled back into our seats.
As I was eating, I looked around. I noticed a girl with red hair, wearing all black. She was sitting by herself. I felt bad for her. True, before I met Clara I always say by myself trying to stay clear of the girls. Thank goodness no girls had come to bother me. Of course, just then, I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked away from the red haired girl, and my stomach fell. At that very moment, three tall, heel wearing, blondes were headed this way. They came up to the table, but didn't sit down. They batted there eyes at me.
"Hi there." One of them said.
Clara still had her back to them, but I saw her tense. She looked at me with wide eyes. I turned my attention back to the three girls standing in front of me.
"Um Hi."
They giggled, "Do you wanna come sit with us?" The second blonde said. They ignored Clara completely.
I looked at Clara, her eyes were still wide, but she seemed to be able to process information now without fainting.
"Um, no thank you."
They stared at me, "What?"
I felt my confidence melting.
"Um, uh i-"
"He said no thanks, I'm sure you heard him that first time, right girls? Did your small brains just need a recap to make sure he wasn't actually saying no?"
I looked at Clara, but she looked as shocked as I did. I looked up slowly to see the blondes glaring at a new face. The red haired girl.
"Why don't you ladies go back to your table, I'm sure you boyfriends miss you guys." She raised an eyebrow at them.
They looked flabbergasted, their mouths opened and closed several times. Then they spun on their heels and raced away. The red haired girl sighed, then she turned towards me and Clara. Clara had turned around, and I could tell she was nervous.
"Uh-um-h-h-hi, um-"
The red haired girls expression softened, but only just a tiny bit.
"Hey. I'm Alex."
Clara was able to choke out her name after about five minutes of stuttering. I wasn't any better.
Alex smirked at us, she turned to me.
"Pretty boy, you better toughen up. I'm not gonna be here every time a girl tries to snare you."
I could feel myself blushing fiercly. I nodded, then Clara giggled, and I gave her an exasperated look.
"Would you like t-to sit with u-us?" Clara asked Alex.
Alex raised an eyebrow, she seemed suspicious. She finally seemed to decide. She shrugged, "Why not?"
She sat next to Clara, and Clara smiled at her.
"H-h-have you e-eat-eaten yet? I st-still have a b-bit of f-food if you'd lik-like it." Clara seemed more relaxed, but she still didnt have control of her sturttering yet. I didn't trust myself to speak, so I didn't.
Alex's gaze stayed on Clara's face, then she smiled.
"Thanks cupcake, but I've already eaten."
Clara smiled back, then she looked down at her food.
I wasn't sure what to say or do, then Alex turned her fierce brown eyes on me. She raised an eyebrow at me. She opened her mouth to say something, when someone spoke over her.
"Why hello there."
