A year has passed and I began to recover from that grievous past. I only concentrated on my studies and tried to cope up with others to make it for myself. Another semester will start today, and I am hoping that I will be able to pass again this time.
As always, every semester brings new students to us, and we are expected to welcome them in our school. Our adviser introduced them one by one.
After we welcomed the transferees, the class' seat arrangements was assigned.
My seatmate is one of the transferees. I said hi on her, but she just looked at me scarily. Her name is Ashley Baron. I've never seen her smile this day, but I'm hoping that I could.
The class has started. Ashley still keeps up with her bad mood. Every time I could, I always look at her, but nothing really changes from her face. One time, I noticed Ashley looking at me. I felt nervous because of her glare, but she quickly turned back.
The school bell rang for the break. Before I leave the class, Ashley called me.
"Drake Sky, am I right?" she said. "I will talk to you later." I don't know why she wants to talk to me, but I just agreed.
While we are talking, she said something that really made me happy. She knows everything about those creatures.
"Do you mean...you know how to defeat those creatures?"
"Definitely." Ashley said. "And also, those creatures are called as Reapers. They are the 'living fear' in this world. Reapers just hide in every places, waiting to scare a person. They randomly show themselves to normal people, and once the Reapers show up, the people's minds will start to be dominated with the fear coming from those creatures. Those people that cannot withstand the fear are immediately converted to the form of the Reapers. Drake, if you want, I'll teach you how to beat them, so you can save the one you have lost."
"Wait, but how did you know something about me without even talking about it?" I was confused.
Ashley responded by bending her head downwards, and sighed. She's a really strange girl, and I will find out what's wrong with her.
