Derek is pretty understanding about my past, present, and future. He is always there for me, but in order to get to him, I had to jump through some rings.
For as long as I could remember, my mom and dad would fight and argue. So when they got a divorce, I wasn't surprised. My dad moved out, got a new girlfriend, got a new house and started a life of his own. For many years after that, my mom and my dad would fight about anything and everything. First it was visitations and then it was providing clothing during visitations. After a while, I got tired and quit counting the reasons they were arguing. Then one day my dad got custody of me and that was when things changed forever. Once my dad got custody, my dad's girlfriend had already given birth to my little brother, Jake. The four of us lived in a small house in a small town and we were happy.
Then we moved, my dad's girlfriend became my stepmom and she had my little sister, Alexis. It was the beginning of my 6th grade year in school and I was nervous to start at a new school, with new people, new teachers, new everything. The first few days were rough, I didn't have any friends and I was pretty antisocial. That's when he approached me.
I remember exactly how the day went...
"Hi, I've noticed you around the school and just wanted to say hi. My name is Derek,we have most of our classes together and I know what's it like to be new."
"My name is Haylee and thanks, but I have to go now."
"Haylee wait, do you think you'd maybe want to like go to the football game with me tonight?" At this point I was shocked. Why would a guy like him want to be seen in public with me?
"You're joking, right? Your friends will laugh at you for hanging out with me." They really would. He was good looking and popular and I was the new girl that didn't talk and got straight A's.
"They don't choose who I hang out with. So, see ya there?"
And that's where it all began, I didn't actually go to that football game, I stayed home instead. He asked me about it the next Monday and so I told him my mom said no.
We became close friends after that, we were best friends until our freshman year of high school. That was the year we started dating. I'm not going to let myself flashback on that one. I will explain it, but the flashback could make me cry and I don't want that.
Okay so freshman year of high school, I am sitting in my CP Biology course when out of nowhere someone tells me that todya is going to be the day of my life. All day people keeping telling me the same things. It's finally the end of the day and I walk out side to get on the bus when I see someone standing by the math room. Math iis my favorite subject and Derek knows that. I walk over and see that it's Derek's brother. He motions me to walk in the room and so I do.I walk in to a grinning Derek standing by a chalk board that reads "My love for you is like dividing by zero, you can't define it" And me being the nerd that I am, Fell for it.
I fell so hard that I am still dating the kid. He still uses corny pick up lines and I think I fall again every time he uses one.
