I think maybe I like window boy. I was begging on the inside, for him to talk to me and give me answers. Begging for him to smile at me all the time, like I smiled for him today. A smile filled with understanding and excitement.
The air in my bedroom was cold but my head felt hot from the thoughts and questions burning in my brain. I pulled the blankets over me and took out a pencil and started to write. The outside noises made it easier to ease into thoughtless sleep. I would wait for tomorrow to come and I would wait for him to talk to me. Nothing would be the same, I would change, he would change. It will be everything I need, change.
I woke to a morning sun barely shinning through my blanketed windows. When I sat up the first thing that came to my mind was books. The library was a few miles away so I called a bus hoping it would be empty this early. I guess a nine o'clock bus is also a busy bus considering the bus was full. I decided to sit behind two boys who looked about twelve, and pushed my earbuds in.
I could smell one of the boys tootsie pop suckers, the sweetness made my carsick stomach twist with disgust. At that moment I promised myself not to ride the bus during busy hours.

I woke around eleven when I heard the heavenly beep of the microwave. I didn't even realize it wasn't my microwave beep until I found my little brother Zach with a bag of popcorn in his hands.
"Zach what are you doing.. here?" I rubbed my eyes and searched the freezer for ice cream.
"Mom had to run somewhere and doesn't trust me alone at home."
"Aren't you like 13?"
"Yeah but mom can't seem to realize that"
"Well.. you guys should have knocked."
"We did - three hours ago."
"You've been here for three hours?!"
"Yeah."
"Doing what?!"
"Watching your movies. This is your last bag of popcorn... so you should go get me something greasy from town."
"Hmm... I'll think about it."
I headed outside to smoke, and she was there walking down the street. this was my chance.

I decided to walk home considering the bus wasn't a pleasant experience. The air was lightly warmed from the mid day sun and the breeze was perfect.
As I walked down the street, window boy was sitting on his porch. I could smell the sweet scent of his cigarette as he exhaled smooth white clouds of chemicals. He looked so appealing with his slightly long hair a dark mess of black, and his ice cold blue eyes looking through me. He was pale, slightly muscled and had a thin shirtless figure.
I tried not to stare but as soon as I looked away he got up and started toward me. I didn't stop but I didn't walk faster either."Hey." He tapped my shoulder with a smile.
"Hey.."
"I see you a lot but we never really uhm.. talk." He ran his fingers through the back of his hair.
"Oh.. yeah I know.. I'm Lis Varn." I pushed my bangs out of my face trying to play it cool.
"Well hi Lis. I'm Cole."
"Ha hi Cole." My cheeks began to get red.
"I just want to say... I love your hair haha"
"Thanks ha" I felt a smile creep onto my face.
