Here's a little something to make up for my lack of posting, if you enjoy it please vote and comment :))
Inside was much more magnificent than the first room we had been in. There was a long corridor leading to a giant mountain made of rock with a face carved into the side of it. Snake statues lined the hall but there was no sign of a monster.
"Ginny!" Ron shouted as we were all staring at our surroundings.
We ran over to where there was a young girl laying on the floor. Her ginger hair was speckled with blood and her fingers were covered in that same red substance. An open book was laying near her and she looked unconscious
"We need to get out of here," I said, "We can get more people to come down with us to fight the basilisk but we need to get her out of her right now, she needs medical help immediately.
Blake and Ron were helping me clean Ginny's cuts with their shirts but Harry wasn't looking at her anymore. He was looking behind where I was sitting. I turned around a saw a younger boy standing there. He was older than us but didn't look any older than 16 or 17 years old.
"Tom, you need to help us," Harry told him as the boy walked over and picked up the diary.
"You know him?" I questioned.
"That's Tom Riddle," Harry told us, "He's the one in the diary that showed me the memories," addressing Tom he said, "Tom she's hurt, why aren't you helping her?"
"There's not anything else you can do Harry," Tom said, "The process is almost complete. Soon she'll be dead."
"What are you talking about?" Ron said, "We need your help to save my sister."
"She brought that upon herself. She poured herself into that diary, all about her life, how she was the youngest of 7 kids and how she didn't know how she would live up to her expectations. How she had a crush on the famous Harry Potter, the boy who brought down Lord Voldemort. I was very interested in you Harry, and she was very happy to talk about you. Do you know how annoying it is to be the therapist for an 11 year old girl? Well soon I began to ask her for some favors, just small ones and she was happy to oblige. She put so much of herself into that book that it made it very easy for me to drain all her life force."
"Why would you do that? What would you get out of that?" Harry asked.
I had a look on my face that must've made it obvious I had figured out what was happening so he said, "I believe your friend knows what's happening. Care to explain darling?"
I glared at him and said, "That diary right there is what's known as a memory holder, a really strong one. It allows someone's memory to live on after they die or grow older. Tom was able to make it so that he could literally communicate to people through it and that's what he's been doing with Ginny. I don't know how exactly but he's draining her life into the diary so that he can become real, fully human."
"You're missing something sweetheart," he said with a grin.
"Tom is the heir of Slytherin and he's been working through Ginny to do everything. If you were to ask her Ginny would say she's been having blackouts where she can't remember what she's done for a few hours and she's been doing all of Tom's dirty work. She wrote those things on the wall and keeps letting the beast out to petrify students."
"Well there's no more of that!" shouted Harry, "We are leaving with Ginny and she's going to live and you can go back to your diary or whatever."
Tom laughed although it didn't sound quite right, "I think not. I need Ginny to finish her job, and you'll all be very busy. I'd like to see how the boy who lived will fare against the Slytherin's famous beast, the mighty basilisk."
He hissed something and suddenly there was rumbling. A giant snake that must've been the basilisk slithered out of the cave through a hole in the wall.
"Don't look at it!" I shouted, "I'm going to distract it, you guys do whatever it takes to get to that orb."
With that said they raced away to the edge of the chamber and hugged the wall in an attempt to not be seen. Meanwhile I stood in the middle of the chamber as the basilisk slithered right over to me.
When it was halfway I shouted, "GO!" and raced the other direction into the labyrinth of tunnels to my left.
I glanced back to see Blake, Ron and Harry trying to get across the floor to the cave but the basilisk gave up on me and instead turned to them. As much as I tried to get its attention, it went for its cave to protect it. It was closing in on Harry Ron and Blake when suddenly a familiar bright red bird flew into the chamber carrying something in its mouth.
Fawkes flew over to me and dropped it at my feet. I realized it was the sorting hat. What did Fawkes think the sorting hat would do for me right now? Fawkes flew away and out of the chamber away from the danger. Then I noticed something glittering in the hat. I bent down to see what it was and pulled out a sword.
Figuring Fawkes wouldn't have brought it to me if it wasn't made by goblins I stormed at the basilisk and was able to land a cut on its tail. This made it turn towards me and stay away from the other three.
"Forget about the orb!" I shouted to them, "Just start casting spells to slow it down and we're going to kill it with this sword."
Instead of running into the cave the three of them turned around and started throwing spell after spell at the beast. It didn't do much but slow it down a bit and frustrate it. Slowing it down a bit was enough for me. I was able to climb up part of the mountain to get leverage and launch myself onto the back of the basilisk. I got in a few good stabs that seemed to really harm it before it through me off its back latching it's fang into my arm at the same time.
The pain stung like nothing I'd ever felt, and I was pretty used to knife cuts. It was then that I remembered something I had read in the book that I hadn't paid much attention to. Basilisk fangs were laced with poison, an incurable poison.
My three friends came rushing to my side as the basilisk was still hurt.
"Someone take that sword right there and just keep stabbing it. I'm going to be fine, the pain goes away after a little while," I lied.
Blake was the only once that didn't seem convinced but it didn't matter because Harry took the sword from me and took my place slashing at the basilisk furiously. As the basilisk bent down to try to bit Harry, he hit it in the eye with the sword and then sliced at its neck. With this the mighty beast fell to the floor, dead.
