"An elf is a supernatural creature of folk tales, -German, to be specific- typically represented as a small, elusive figure in human form with pointed ears, magical powers and a capricious nature."

According to Google, that is.

In truth, we're not as small as pencils and we don't talk like squeaking rubber ducks.

However, we do have pointed ears and some of us have quite the temper as well, and if you consider flying and healing people to be magic, then you can go ahead and add magic powers to the list of truths too.

All these traits are concealed through 'elf magic', of course, and even the beautifully translucent, lightweight wings that elves hold pride in are hidden from the public's eye.

This may not surprise you, though.

In our world, demons, half-demons, angels and exorcists exist. What more can you expect?

"...ana... Hana!"

Blinking, I shook my head lightly to regain my focus.

"Yes?"

The man facing me sighed heavily and placed a hand on his forehead, clearly showing his exasperation.

"I suppose you were never listening from the start?"

I hesitated, "...No?"

He muttered something under his breath, but I easily heard him. These fancy, pointed ears aren't good for nothing.

"How are you going to survive in this world if you can't even survive a conversation with me..."

Honestly, it was slightly offending, but I've grown accustomed to it.

"I apologize, Father. Can you... repeat what you said earlier? Please?" I meekly replied, hoping that the 'please' at the end would stop him from losing his head and scolding me.

"I said," He clenched his teeth, "you're going to transfer schools."

I wasn't exactly sure what I choked on, maybe it was the air or maybe my own spit, but I did choke.

"Wh-"

"Immediately."

"Wh-"

"To True Cross Academy."

"Wh-"

"Because I told you so."

Pausing, the room turned silent and my father stared at me, as if he expected my reaction from the beginning.

"I don't understand. Father, sending me to True Cross Academy is like throwing me into a lion's den! If people find out what I am, I could be exorcised, or torched, o-or electrocuted..."

"Don't speak such nonsense. You are not a demon, you will not be exorcised or torched. And electrocuted? Are you kidding me? This isn't a movie." He easily replied to my complaints without a stutter.

I gazed down at my feet, trying to think of anything else to say back to him.

"I've noticed you weren't happy and you didn't make any friends at school. Perhaps throwing you into a different, less ordinary, enviroment will help you."

"That's it? That's the only reason?"

"There are other reason as well, but just focus on that primarily," Looking away, he spoke slower with a different tone.

I recognized that kind of tone. The tone he used when he felt hesitant or unsure, something he uses especially when he's lying to me.

Letting out a deep breathe, I acknowledged that there was nothing I could do about his impulsive decision to transfer me.

"What about my uniform? And my old school?" This time, I took it more seriously.

Tilting his head slightly, he faced me again, "The uniform has already been purchased and I'll take care of your old school matters."

"Will it be safe?"

The room resumed to its deathly silence. My father paused again, seeming to be thinking back to something. His hesitance scared me a little bit, but I trust him.

"Yes. It will be."

Nodding, I excused myself out of his study and stepped out into the hallway of the mansion. Thanks to my father being a successful entrepeuner, I got to enjoy a luxurious life.

As soon as the door closed behind me, I felt my knees give away and I slid down the wooden surface of the door. Everything was happening so fast. It was as if I blinked and abruptly, I'm transferred to a school that teaches people how to kill demons and become exorcists, despite being non-human myself.

"Miss Hana, are you alright?"

My dramatic reaction by the door of my father's study had apparently caught the attention of one of the maids who was passing by.

"I'm fine," I smiled, "Can you bring a cup of tea to my room?"

"Yes, miss."
