Author's Note* If you are reading this story, Thank you soooo much (: I've been working really hard on it. And by the way, if you come across a word in the story that makes no sense(you will understand what I mean when you get to that point), that is the character speaking their native language, although most of the kingdom speaks English as well. Enjoy the story :)

And please, if you don't like this chapter, I HATE IT. It starts to get good around chapters two and three. Don't the beginning of story's always start out boring, and then you get down to the meaty goodness? And so, lone behold, my first chapter of my new story! Haha, enjoy! (:

Anna's POV

My metallic dress fit loosely around my waist, glimmering brightly. I tugged at it, thinking of the upcoming day. The day that the snobbish, cocky suitors would try to win over my heart-and my hand in marriage.

My stupid father felt that it was necessary and that I needed to find a husband soon because I was already 20, I needed to be married before I was 21, love took too long and... Tap,Tap,Tap. The knocking on my door snapped me out of my thoughts. "Koolamba." I say. Then, remembering my subjects were used to me speaking English, not my native language of Talm, I said "Enter."

The doorknob turned and my maid and friend, Marina, walked in. "Princess Anna!" she says "Are you ready? Your feast is today, and your father could not be happier for you to find a spouse. He thinks that after all of the failed banquets, this is the one. Now, here you are."

Marina hands me a gorgeous strapless gown that flowed to the floor and still had more fabric to spare. It was tight at the top and flowed widely to the bottom, full of silk ruffles. It was pale pink, with a flower/bow to the side, and rhinestones scattered along the top of the dress.

Then she handed me matching pale pink, six inch pumps. She also gave me pearl necklace, but not the kind you buy at the store. Instead of a single string of pearls, there were many of them scattered on each of the strings. And better yet? They were the same color at the dress

"You must look your absolute best if you want those hot guys...ahem, suitors to take even a sideways glance at you." She winked at me. Marina and I were actually really close, and she didn't act near this proper when she was not in the castle or working. But sometimes she slipped up.

I sighed, because even now in the 21st century, royalty must endure the cruel world of arranged marriage. "Yes Marina, I will put it on immediately." She smiled at me "Great. I'll be waiting outside of your chambers."

I then plastered on a fake smile, and the door shut behind her once she walked away. Marina was a short woman, with dark brown, shoulder-length hair. Her body was toned and fit. She had a heart shaped face, and bright green eyes. Marina's skin was tanned, and the laugh lines around her eyes showed she could take a joke. She didn't think so, but half of the kingdom wished they were as beautiful as she was.

I put on my gown, looked in my full-length mirror and grinned. I only liked a few things about being a princess, but one of them had to be the wardrobe. I glanced once more at my reflection before I fastened my necklace and slipped on my pumps, then I met Marina in the hall

She looked me up and down, then grinned triumphantly. "I don't care if I'm working or in the castle. Anna, you look hot. Your designer let me help pick out some fabric and designs for this dress, and wow. This is a hundred times better than that bright and tacky stuff they always put on you." She composed her face. "Okay, normal Marina is gone. Meet proper, boring Marina. Right this way my lady" She led me down the hallway, we turned the corner and there he was. My father, the king.

My father was beaming. "Anna, sweetheart! Today is the day, I can feel it. Your husband-to-be will be present at this feast. I can see it now; you and your wonderful spouse sitting on the throne, your children next in line. Oh, I can hardly wait! Anna, you will absolutely love you husband and the food at this feast! I think that you may even..." I interrupted him.

"Dad, let me stop you right there. I have informed you countless times that I want to marry for love, not who you pick out for me. These men are snobbish, self-centered, and think about nobody but themselves. If they do happen to be interested in me, well... how do I put this? It will not be me they are interested in. It wont be me that they love. They will love Princess Anna, daughter of King Fredrick. They will love the me that is rich beyond compare, and the me that is beautiful."

"Father, don't you see? All of these men, these suitors," I said the word with disgust, "will never love me for who I am. Just what I am. I will not stand to be treated like I am a prize to be won. Not now, and not ever. I think that you should cancel this feast, considering we have had OVER TWENTY of them, all that never worked out. Every single last one of those men was a jerk, and I will NOT marry somebody like that. You cannot force me. Never."

My father looked shocked. Absolutely dumbfounded. But more than anything, he looked angry. Uh-oh I thought. I had never spoken to my father like that and I was afraid to see his reaction. He cleared his throat. "Anna Renee Silvers! You do not speak to your father; your KING like that! 'Not now, not ever'!" I recognized my own words immediately.

"Last I checked, I sat on the throne, not you! And halama, do you know what that means?" I couldn't believe he just called me a halama; a troublemaker; a nuisance. "N-n-no. N-no, father." I said in a whisper. Then, his face hardened. "It mean that I MAKE THE RULES! WHAT I SAY GOES. And I say that you will marry who I tell you to marry. It is not a thing that you have a choice over. You are still a child. A girl. My castle, my rules. My kingdom, my rules. Would you like to know how to get out of this marriage?"

I smiled hopefully, although doubtfully, only to hear him say, "You will not get out of this marriage unless you happen to just disappear off of the face of the earth or die. And sweetie, that leaves you out of options." Dinngggg Donnggg! "Now go to the dining room. The first suitor is here." he said sharply. But what he didn't know is that he just gave me a wonderful, foolproof idea. "Marina, do you still have that breakaway vase? I'm going to fake my own death."

Author's Note* Its boring now, but its just starting out slowly. Bear with me please, The story will get better, I promise :)
