{ Uptight - Green Day

"I've been uptight all night.
I'm a son of a gun."

It had been about two weeks since Davina had first come to Beacon Hills.

She and Derek had gotten along for the most part over the past few weeks, at first talking awkwardly about their favorite weather, but that conversation led to their hobbies, and music taste, to which they both enjoyed Green Day.

Flashback:

"No way, Nimrod is so much better than American Idiot!" Derek huffed at her to which she simply laughed. Who would have thought that Derek, this stern man she barely knew could get so worked up over music?

"Alright, alright, whatever you say." She rolled her eyes playfully and simply took a bite of the crisp apple in her hand.

Then there was silence.

"What about linkin park?"

"Um, who?"

...

Davina could have sworn Derek was about to go into a full werewolf tantrum when she said that, and they listened to Linkin Park practically the whole night.

-

It was late Sunday evening, the day before she starts her Junior year of high school. She was surprised she wasn't held back a year since she had been on the run the past few years, which only made her feel overwhelmed and nervous even more.

Davina exhaled slowly, placing herself on the sofa. "Do I seriously have to go to that hell hole?" She whined, dreading the next day before it even began.
It was seriously unnecessary that she had to go to some stupid school filled with teenagers who didn't know anything more than gossip and how to get high.

Derek rolled his eyes, a blank stare taking over his face.
"Yes you do Davina, you'll be safe there with Isaac, Erica and Boyd. I can't let the Alpha pack know you exist or they could hurt you. You know that."

She tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear and shrugged, "I know, I know, you just want me to be safe." She said with a slightly annoyed tone.
Although, she would never admit that it meant a lot to her.

Derek sat next to her on the sofa and looked at her, "Don't mention anything about the Alpha Pack to them yet, okay? I don't want them to worry. Plus we have to deal with the kanima situation first."

"I understand." She half smiled, as he placed a hand on her shoulder.
The two of them knew the alpha pack was in town and even though they had only been in each other's lives for roughly two weeks, there was a silent understanding between them.

I care about you. Don't get hurt.

"The next full moon is tomorrow night, are you nervous?"

"No."

Lies.
Don't lie to yourself Davina.

"Good. I need you to come straight home after school tomorrow, do you understand?" Derek spoke as sternly as usual and Davina usually hated being told what to do, however their situation was very different this time.
Both of their lives, not to mention many others could be at stake.
