In my dream there was a girl, a beautiful girl. She smelled like rain, mixed with perfume and slightly like apples. Her scent filled my lungs, I inhaled her scent like a drug, I loved it. I loved her.Even if I could never see her face, it didn't matter, because I could hear her soft, smooth voice, I could listen to her talk all day long. And when I touched her it felt electric, I felt a burning warmth spread through my body, sending shivers down my spine. It made me feel whole.
I had never met her before, but I knew she was real, she had to be.
In the dream, she and I were falling from the blood red sky, she was crying and blood dripped from her plump, juicy lips and blood dripped from my arm. The pain in my arm was intense, but the pain in my heart when she cried hurt more.
The dream ended with us hitting the muddy ground and dying.
I've been having these kind of dreams for as long as I can remember, I never told my mother, I never told Trey, I've never told anyone. I don't know why, I just didn't. I guess I think they'd think I'm crazy for falling in love with a girl from my dreams. And they'd think I'm even more crazy because I don't even know the girl.I don't know her name. I don't know what her face looks like. I don't know where is is.
But I do know that she is real.○●○
I walked down Oak street, chewing on my toast, everyone was doing their normal Monday morning routine: Mrs.Cole was mowing her lawn, Mr. Johnson was walking his 2nd graders to school, and Trey was waiting for me by the lampost on Oak and Nork street.
Trey waved me over frantically as soon as he noticed me walking over to him.
I quickly jogged over to him, while finishing my toast.
"Guess what, dude, some people are moving into the old "Bay Mansion"!" He chortled as he pointed now Nork street at the Bay Mansion.
The Bay Mansion used to belong to the Bay family, they we're kinda strange and they had their secrets, but I was best friends with the youngest daughter, Val, but then all of the sudden the Bay family just we're gone. And no one has lived in that house ever since, some people said it's haunted or whatever.
Val was my first best friend, we did everything together, and I made her a crescent moon charm out of silver. I wonder how Val is doing now.
As I stood beside Trey, I could see a moving truck parked in front of the Bay Mansion.
"I wonder who's movin in." Trey said, his voice was deep like a grown man, which is what made him so popular with the girls at school.
"I don't know why any sane person would ever want to move here." I said.
He looked at me, then held up a frilly pink envelope. "Did you get one?" He asked.
"Oh, yeah, of course." I lied, as if I could really get invited to Stephanie Scott's annual pre Halloween costume party. "Hey we're gonna be late." I said, changing the subject.
Trey nodded his head in agreement, "C'Mon, let's go. Mom'll kick my brains in if I'm late on the first day."
I chuckled as we started to run for the school.○●○
I tapped my pen rhythmically on my notebook, while Ms. Lean went over the rules of her class, like we didn't know this crap already.
"Pardon me, ma'am." A familiar female voice said.
I looked up and I saw a short girl with frizzy brown-black hair that framed her head like a lion's mane, brown skin and brown eyes. She wore black jeans that were ripped in diagonal lines, a black tshirt that said 'Rawr Bitches' and a black lace choaker and black boots with spikes.
The class turned their attention to her.
"Oh, hello!" Ms.Lean said, as if she had cotton balls in her ears.
The girl chuckled sheepishly, the most beautiful sound ever. She brushed her hair away from her eyes.
"Please have a seat next to Stephanie Peterson." Ms. Lean said, pointing at Stephanie.
Stephanie smirked as the new girl walked over to her.
I caught a glance at the new girls face as she walked past me. I noticed a silver crescent moon charm dangling from her choaker.
Like the one that I made for Val 10 years ago, but that couldn't be Val, could it?
The girl sat down in the seat next to Stephanie, which was behind me.
"Turn to page 200 and read from there to 270." Ms. Lean said.
"What's your name?" I heard Stephanie's snobby voice say.
"Valentine Bay." The girl behind me said.
I felt my heart stop beating in my chest, it was her. It really was her!
"Wait, Bay? Like the haunted Bay Mansion?! You're a Bay?!"
"Hells yeah." Valentine said. "Why? Problem?"
I heard Stephanie gasp. "N-no."
I dug my face into the text book as if I was reading it, I noticed Trey lean across Johnson's desk to talk to Valentine.
"Hey," he said.
"Hi."
"Ya know," Trey said seductively. "You're kinda hot."
Valentine giggled loudly, "Thanks, and you're kinda not."
The class busted into laughter, no girl has ever spoken that way to Trey.
I turned my body so that I was facing Valentine, I pointed at the moon charm. "Where'd ya get that?" I asked.
"Oh... um...a friend of mine gave it to me." She said.
I noticed how intense the brown of her eyes were, they were a soft greenish brown, but also a protective solid brown, with hints of green and gold. Her lips were plush and covered with blood red lipstick, reminding me of the girl from my dreams with the blood dripping down her lips.
I noticed a tall, lanky guy with black hair and piercing blue eyes, his skin looked a deadly pale as he walked into the classroom.
"Ma'am, may I speak with my sister please? It'd be very quick, I promise." He said, he voice sounding slightly British.
"Alright, who is your sister?" Ms. Lean asked.
"Me, ma'a, I am." Valentine stood from her seat and headed for the boy waiting at the door.
"Wait, her brother is white?" Stephanie chortled. "But she's black."
"Maybe she's adopted." Linda Beaker said.
"Maybe he's adopted." Jonathan Porter said.
I fixed my eyes on the door. I wonder what they're talking about.
I noticed Valentine peek her head in the classroom and then her brother copied. They both fixed their eyes on me, I tried to look away but I could feel them looking at me.
Valentine walked into the classroom, with a frustrated look on her face.
She stopped at my desk and looked me in the eyes.
I felt all of time stop as if she and I were the only 2 people in the entire universe. I felt my heart stop in my chest. I could hear a faint echo of a voice. A soft voice moaning my name quietly.
Then suddenly time continued again and Valentine walked to the desk behind me and sat down.
I took immediate notice to how pissed she looked.○●○
At lunch I sat with Stephanie and her goons and Trey and his goons. But I couldn't take my eyes off of Valentine. She sat across the room, near the dark corner, she sat with her brother and another boy that looked a little like her, except his eyes were lime green.
Valentine looked as if she was in a deep concentration, her eyes looked dazed and dreamy. She fiddled with the charm around her neck as she bit one of the burger patty's on her lunch trey, she had about 5, patty no bread.
I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around and saw Valentine's brother.
"Hello." He said.
"H-hi." I stuttered.
"My sister would kinda like for you to come and sit with us... if that's alright with you."
I stared into his deadly blue eyes. "Sure." I said. I followed him.
Valentine was my first friend, and my first love, maybe we could rebuild the relationship that we once had. Maybe she wants to rebuild the relationship that we once had, too.
I sat down in the empty chair next to Valentine.
"Hi, Pierson." She smirked.
"Hi." That came out in the most awkward way.
"Could you explain to me what this is." She asked holding up a pink envelope.
"That's an invite to Stephanie's party, this Friday. It's a costume party, you're supposed to come in a costume." I said, looking into her eyes, they looked aloft more golden than usual.
"So, are you going? And what about you're cocky friend, Trey?" There was something about her tone that made me a little worried. She sounded as if she was up to something.
"Yeah, Trey and I are both going."
Valentine smirked and ran her blood red finger nails through her frizzy hair. "Oh, really?"
