Five

Derek was such a nice guy. We both met up a few more times before he left town and discussed some things he needed some help on. There was a scheduled flight for me in a few weeks to come out to New York and finally go to the main offices. It was all going extremely well so far, and I couldn't be any happier with it.

"What do you think about this?" Kayla asks, biting on the eraser of the pencil. I look down at the sketch of clothing on the paper in front of me.

"I like it." I say before sitting back in my chair and looking down at my phone. Blake sent me a snapchat of Chaney lying on his back on the floor in his living room with the caption : "we're bored". I reply with a picture of my shoes resting on top of Kayla's glass desk with the caption : "me too". I lock my phone and look up at Kayla, who was already staring at me with a smirk on her face.

"You've got a big smile on your face." She smiles.

"Yeah, yeah. Let me see what else you got done." I say, grabbing the notepad. My eyes scan through as I flip through the pages. "These are good. When are you going to release them?" I ask.

"I don't know yet. When do you think I should?" She asks.

"In the end of August we should start advertising for it and we should release it mid September." I suggest.

"Okay. Sounds good." She says.

"Good. I should go though, I have some stuff to do." I get out of my chair and reach over to give her a hug. "See you later."

"Have fun with your boyfriend." She says as I walk out of her office. I just ignore her and shake my head before closing the door. As I make my way out of the back offices and into the main store I see a tall woman standing by the register. She was on her phone and clutching her designer purse in her other hand. Great, she decided to drop by just as I'm about to leave. I saw a few employees working on the main floor, so I tried to sneak past her without bringing too much attention to myself. My door was on the handle and I was about to walk out when she called my name.

"Valentina!" She called out. I turned around to see her with a big smile on her face, and acted surprised to see her.

"Oh, hey, Elle. How are you?" I ask, letting go of the door handle.

"I'm great! How are you?" She says, walking up to me. Her long brown hair fell past her shoulders and past mid stomach. All of her clothes were designer; I don't know what he saw in her. She's all about material and he should have seen it coming.

"I'm great. Listen, I-" I start.

"You know, we haven't talked in a while. I was just wondering," her voice softened. "How has Blake been?"

I don't know, he's probably great considering he's the one who dumped your pathetic ass.

"Oh, he's doing well. You know, offseason. He's been going on vacation a lot. Being free." I laugh. Her eyes widen a little and she smiles.

"Well that's great to hear! I was wondering if you could-"

"You know, "I look down at my watch, "I really gotta run. I have a bunch of errands to run. But I'll see you around, okay. Nice seeing you." I wave as I walk out of the glass door. She's the last person I wan't to deal with. I stopped by the coffee shop across the street on the way to the parking garage. The line was long; almost out the door. There had to be about twenty people in line at least, but I needed some coffee. I skipped out on it this morning and it was nearly one p.m. right now. The line inched forward slowly and I finally made it to the front before ordering and getting my drink. As I stepped out of the coffee shop, I heard footsteps behind me and then heard the camera clicking.

"Any more news on Blake?" The man asks, as he follows me to my car. I stayed quiet until he almost blocked me from getting into my car.

"I'd really appreciate if you allowed me to get into my car." I say, firmly.

"C'mon, just some info on Blake, that's all I need." He says, getting closer to me and cornering me in between my car and the other car.

"Listen, just get out of the way and let me get into my car. " I say. He keeps snapping, pictures and that's when I lost it. "Stop!" I yell. "Go find something else better to do!" I opened my car door which forced him to get out of the way and drove off. Can't wait for that to make it on TMZ.

**

I knocked on the tall wooden door and waited until it opened; Blake smiling lightly. "Hey." He says, walking in and me following.

"Guess who I ran into at Kayla's store." I say.

"Who?"

"You're crazy ex girlfriend, Elle." I say, dropping my keys on the counter and taking a seat on his countertop.

He laughs, "What did she say?"

"She wanted to know how you were. I told her you were having fun going on vacations and being free." I get up and grab a bottle of water. "She still looks the same. In her designer clothes and full face of makeup and everything fake."

"She's all material." He states.

"I tried to tell you that when I met her. But you didn't listen." I take a sip from the bottle.

"You're right."

"And to top everything off I almost got attacked by a camera man." I smile sarcastically.

He sighs and looks at me, "This is all my fault. Are you okay?" the skin around his eyes crinkles a little as he gives me a look of concern.

"I'm fine... and no it's not your fault they're assholes." I say.

"But it's my fault they know who you are now." He says.

"Do you expect me not to hang out with you?" I ask with a small smile. "I'm not gonna be in hiding."

'True." He smiles back. "I'm glad I have you around to hang with."

"Thanks, B. I can say the same for you."

He smiles and sits next to me while on his phone. His doorbell rings and He gets up to go get it. I hear him talking to someone for a little while before coming back in and placing a stack of mail on the counter. A thick envelope on the top stands out to me the most.

"What's that?" I ask.

"I don't know." He picks it up and flips it over, reading it before ripping it open. His eyes travel along the paper as he reads it over with a focused look on his face. He looks up at me and grins.

"What?"

"Well..." He drags it out, biting down on his lip in the process. I just noticed he started to grow a little bit of facial hair out. The mustache and everything.

"What?! I wanna know!" I yell.

"Looks like you're going to New York earlier than you thought." He smiles.

"What do you mean?" I ask, confused.

"There's some party on Saturday. I'm not really sure what it's for. Derek said all the travel is covered. There's probably an invitation at your house too."

"Wait, really?" I ask. "When do we leave?"

"Tomorrow." He smiles.
