Chapter 1- The New Girl

-10 years later-

I jerked up out of my sleep, I'd had the dream again. Every now and then I have the same dream about Kira. Sometimes she's calling for me and I'm running to her house trying to save her. This time I'd made it to the door and just as I was about to touch the doorknob something pulled me away.

I put my face in my hands and forced myself out of bed just as my alarm went off. Other than the past constantly haunting me I was rather popular. I had Reggie, Tyrone, and Daniel. They were the best friends I've had since Kira.

I went to the bathroom showered and dressed afterwards I looked over myself. I was a nice caramel complexion, my lips were kinda over rounded, nose kind of widish, but my eyes were perfect, and my hair was curly and cut short. Overall I was a pretty decent looking guy, well I'm being modest I'm freaking sexy.

Before I went downstairs I looked at my picture of Kira and I. To think I still love this girl. I closed my door and as I was going down the steps the familiar smells of coffee along with the laughter of my parents embraced me. I smiled knowing I'd always have my number one supporters on my side.

"Morning," Jasmine said as I entered  

"Morning mom, dad" I said  

"So who are we playing this week?" Clark asked  

"Sunneton Hornets," 

"Heard their undefeated ," Clark said  

" Not for long," I said smiling at my dad 

"Chip off the old block," he said smiling back.

As I walked down the block I noticed the new girl that had moved in two blocks away from school. She was tall dark skinned and had medium length hair. She'd be what you'd call a beauty queen. She'd caught my eye so I smiled and in return she looked and walked away. Well now I know she's a rude ....... Calm down dude can't call her that. Maybe she's just shy man...

I arrived at school and as usual I was the center of attention it felt good to  

have all these people looking up to me. As I rounded the corner I was distracted by Diamond. Diamond was the head cheerleader and SGA president. Definitely not what you'd expect from a cheerleader but she was no bimbo.

" hey babe" Diamond said  

I know I said Kira was the only girl I've loved but Im a guy I need female companionship.

"Hey"  

"Are our plans still on tonight?" She asked

Just as I was about to reply I bumped into someone. I looked down to see that girl from earlier on the floor.  

I stooped to offer her a helping hand which she took and helped her pick up her books. All while ignoring Diamonds killer glare she may be smart and pretty but extremely jealous.

"I'm sorry," I say giving the girl a smile.

"Yeah, me too." She said grimly.

"It was my fault, I'm Desmond" I say handing the girl back her books.

"I...(gets cut off)"

Diamond: Was just leaving.

The girl looked at Diamond and scratched her head with one finger. I had a feeling her wasn't itching she was trying to decide whether to snap or not.

Diamond decided to push past the girl causing her books to fall again. Yeah she's like most cheerleaders cold hearted, stuck up, and a major bitch. I put up with her because its what everyone expects team captain and head cheerleader. But apart of me feels like there's someone else better for me out there.

I stooped again to help the girl with her books.

"Sorry about her she can be a real.." 

"Bitch," the girl said finishing my sentence.  

"Yeah," I said. 

"Typical guys like you go for girls like her" the girl said standing.  

"So if you're done stereotyping didn't catch your name." I said.

The bell rung she mumbled "thanks for helping only to cause more problems" and walked away. Nothing I did was right to this girl. I keep managing to get rude remarks somehow...what was I doing wrong?

Throughout the day I was thinking of ways to make the unnamed girl like me. I was so stuck in my thoughts of this girl I had hardly done any work and the day was over. I'd make it up tomorrow, but for now it was time for practice.

Diamond made her way to me. Talking about how she wanted her nails and hair done and what girl said this and who was pregnant by who.

"Desmond are you listening to me?" Diamond said angrily.  

"Yeah," I lied

Just then I saw the unnamed girl again. I couldn't look away something about her. Just drove me nuts to know everything I could and get as close as I could.

"So you want her?" Diamond said angrily  

"What? No!" I said out loud but in my mind I was saying yes.  

"You're staring at her like she's one of your trophies or something." Diamond continued. "You don't even look at me like that."  

She kept nagging so I kissed her to make her shut up.  

"I'm with you okay babe?" I asked

Diamond was speechless and and could only shake her head. I turned to look back at the unnamed girl and true enough she'd seen me kiss Diamond she just turned and walked away.My mind wondered back to the unnamed girl and I wondered what her lips felt like.
