Two weeks before prom, Stevie insisted we went shopping for dresses, reluctantly, I followed along.
Stevie flicked through the clothes racks while I stood awkwardly behind her.
"Do you like this one?" She asked holding up a long blue dress
"Yeah it's nice."
She sighed grumpily and continued to dig through them.
I looked around the store for my dress, suddenly, I had a strange feeling of being watched. I looked around wearily and my eyes stopped on Grace from history class, glaring at me angrily. She poked her boyfriend, who hung around beside her with a bored expression."Hey look, it's one of the school's two greatest heroes, Allison Hills. Little dyke." She told him loud enough for the whole store to hear her. The whole room stared at me. Stevie turned back around and looked at Grace with wide, horrified eyes, and quickly walked towards her.
"What the fuck did you just call my girlfriend?" Asked Stevie, approaching Grace intimidatingly
"Oh, you heard me. We all know it's supposed to be prom king and queen, not two queens, it's just how it is. Anyway, Finn here and I are running as king and queen, and we all know that everyone votes for tradition." Said Grace, Finn sighed
"Hey, why don't you go try on the dresses and I'll sort things out." Finn suggested. Grace stormed off towards the changing rooms."I'm sorry about her, she's worried that she won't get to be prom queen." Said Finn
"It's fine, we'll go." I said, pulling Stevie towards checkout while picking up the first dress I found. We got a table at the nearest taco place. Stevie pulled out her phone and giggled slightly.
"What is it?" I asked, worried that perhaps she was texting another girl.
"Oh nothing." She replied. She stared at my worried expression
"It's just that today's Tuesday, and we're eating tacos, it's like Taco Tuesday. I don't know why I find that funny." She said
I laughed at her easy amusement. Some movement outside caught my eye and I quickly stared out of the window. A man stood in the dark distance glaring at us, his hand clasping something in his pocket. He smiled at my fearing glare. I stood up
"We should go now." I told Stevie
"Wait, we haven't even finished our tacos!"
"Stevie, we've gotta go, we're not safe here."Author's note: I'm sorry for the late update, I've been doing some other writing of my own which I may or may not publish in the near future, we'll see. Thanks for the support xxx
