Ch. XIII -Awakening-
---------------

I'm starting to think that life is trying to ruin me.

It's now Friday, two days after Natsu told me everything. He didn't expand on what he already told me even though I kind of allow him near me now. You can call me cruel but I don't care, I'm stubborn and just because he told me all of that doesn't mean anything.

Anyway, it's Friday and I'm actually wearing a dress. Though, it's black and not fancy at all. My mum made me wear it for the funeral.

The funeral for Levy McGarden.

I've only been to one other funeral in my life, it was for my father's work friend who died mysteriously, and it was nothing like this. There were lilies everywhere, it was full of melancholic people in black with "sorry" being every second word.

But here there was no flowers here, people were still in black but there was smiling, laughing. If I hadn't known any better I would've said that these people were crazy. Now I knew why they were like this.

Apparently when a pureblood vampire dies before they're a complete vampire they can "come back to life" and live like a normal vampire. Though it only works if they die like a human, no stakes or anything. And since Levy wasn't a full vampire when she died, this wasn't a funeral, more of an awakening ceremony.

I took a sip of my red drink of unknown name and looked around. I saw a fancy casket that was open and a lot of people crowding around it. I drifted over, not literally, and looked into the casket.

There Levy laid, still as the dead and pale as them too. I looked to my right and saw Levy's mother and father, looking at their daughter lovingly. I tapped their shoulders "Excuse me, Mr. and Mrs. McGarden?"

They turned to me and smiled, no trace of sadness in their eyes. Vampire funerals are weird. "Yes dear? Are you the Heartfilia girl?" I nodded "Yes, your daughter was my best friend." Mrs. McGarden smiled "That's sweet, what do you need?"

I glanced at Levy "I'm sorry if this is rude, but you guys are vampires, yes?" Their smiles faltered but came back full force "Yes dear, but please be quiet, not everyone here is," "a vampire."

I heard a voice in my head finishing Mrs. McGarden's sentence. I stared at them confused "W-What...?" Mrs. McGarden laughed a little "Sorry dear, I forgot you just found out about us. I'll get Levy to tell you more about it later," "when she wakes up."

I nodded and turned back towards Levy. Looking down at her bright blue hair which seemed even brighter with her pale skin. I frowned a little, thinking about what Mrs. McGarden had said.

What did she mean by "when she wakes up"? I didn't know yet but as I looked around the small hall, that was rented, it seemed like people were preparing to leave. I saw only a few people staying, including my family and all the McGardens.

It seemed as if all the humans were leaving. I turned and saw that Mr. and Mrs. McGarden had left to talk to the hall owner. They seemed to be arguing but I didn't know what about and I didn't want to be nosy. I waited for another minute before Levy's parents came back over.

They were looking worriedly at Levy, impatiently fidgeting too. I frowned and leaned closer "What's wrong, Mr. and Mrs. McGarden?" They looked at me "She was to wake up soon, we only have another twenty minutes in the hall.

I glanced at Levy worriedly "What does that mean for her?" "If she doesn't wake up we'll...have to-" Mrs. McGarden cut off and started freaking out but I could tell she was trying to stay calm.

I grabbed her and looked at her, determined "Don't worry, Levy has never let me down before, no way she's going to start now."

That's what I thought. Then five minutes went by, then ten, then fifteen. I was fidgeting as I looked between the clock then at Levy "Come on Levy, wake up." I bit my lip, anxiety coming over me.

Suddenly someone hit me on the back and I turned to see a trace of long black hair disappear. I didn't think much of it and just turned back to Levy. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the hall owner arguing with someone.

I turned to see a tall, black haired guy that looked my age angrily talking to the owner. I couldn't hear them but suddenly the black haired man shoved some money in the owners face. He barked one last thing before coming back over and once again walking past me.

I looked at him, awed. He looked scary with spiky black hair and tons of piercings but what I just saw proved he had a heart. I smiled at him and when he caught me looking at him I walked over. I didn't know what I was doing but I was doing it.

"What's your name?" I asked as I approached him. "None of your business, Bunny Girl." I huffed and glared at him "Fine, Metal Face, but I saw what you did and I want to thank you, I'm sure the McGardens appreciate it."

He pointedly didn't look at me "I don't know what you're talking about." My face softened and I looked down and sighed "Whatever, deny it, I'm still thanking you. How much was it?"

He didn't answer for a moment then said "Doesn't matter, point is Levy can wake up." I smiled a little, understanding now. The way he said her name, it was lovingly. I turned to walk away "You're a good man, I hope Levy can see that when she wakes up."

I didn't need to turn to see if he blushed, I know he did. I walked back to the McGardens, in a much happier mood. I was mostly glad for the fact that people can be nice, and that was nice.

I started telling the McGardens about Metal Face and they seemed confused and worried. When I asked them why they were about to answer when I heard a groan. I quickly turned to see Levy sitting up, holding her head.

*squeals* haha! Levy's back bushes! I hope you're happy about that because who doesn't like Levy? Raise your hand if you love Levy *raises hand*. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this and arigatou for reading!
