Zanna cursed when the floorboards creaked underneath her boots.

"Zanna, where have you been?"
She turned on the balls of her feet, standing on the step as she found her brother staring at her from the bottom of the staircase.
"Out." She told him.
"Out?" He asked her, unconvinced.
"Out where?"
"Did Zanna not tell you? She was on a date. Went out with a lovely boy too. Handsome, and polite as well. Brought her flowers and everything. A proper gentlemen." Zanna sighed as her mother walked into the hallway, gushing about him and letting the cat out of the bag to her sibling.

"A date? With who?" He asked, seeming to get more irritated by the second. As if the whole world had turned on her the door knocked, Liam striding over to answer it before Zanna could move.
"Why the hell are you here?"
"I could ask you the same thing." Liam responded.
"I was looking for someone. I must have the wrong house."
"You haven't." Zanna shouted as she descended down the stairs, her dress waving just above her knee. Coming into the eyesight of the two boys, she could sense the rage in both of them.

"Liam, you know Brett. Brett, you know my brother Liam."
"Brett? You went on a date with Brett?!" Liam was almost yelling.
"Him? He's the twin you were telling me about?" Brett asked, seeming to be a lot calmer than her brother. Zanna hummed to answer both of their questions.
"I was hoping I could wait a while until I told you both." She explained.
"Anyway, why are you here?" Liam turned, eyes glaring at the boy harshly.
"She left her phone in my car." Zanna pushed by her brother, taking the phone out of his hand and smiling sweetly at him.
"Thanks. I'll see you soon, yeah?"
"Yeah. Have a nice evening."
"You too."

She shut the door with her heart hammering, turning to meet her brother's icy stare.
"Him? Zanna? Him?! You can't trust him."
"And how do you know?" She asked him, hands on her hips.
"Because I do."
"What's- You know what, save it. It's my life, my relationship, my mistake to make. You don't get a say in it Tybalt."
She began to walk away from the situation, her phone lighting up to find a message from Brett already.
"Who the hell is Tybalt?"
"Maybe if you paid attention in English, you'd get the reference."

Zanna remarked as she went upstairs to get into her joggers and hoodie.
"Wait a second." Her mother called out as she looked down over the bannister to raise her eyebrows in question.
"Weren't you wearing lipstick when you went out?"
Zanna's fingertips flew to her lips, she could feel her cheeks tinted red. She didn't responded to her mothers question, bounding up the stairs so they couldn't see her reaction to the taboo subject.

Sitting on the edge of her bed, she punched in the passcode on her phone before clicking to see what he'd put.

Open the window x

Smirking to herself a little, she spread open the curtains to find the boy with a grin waiting behind the glass. Turning the handle and opening it inside her room, she knelt on her ledge as he leaned in again, brushing his lips over hers.
"I didn't think I got enough thanks for returning your phone to you." He teased.
"You didn't. Thanks to my brother." She replied.
"Sorry I didn't tell you. It's just after seeing how you were staring at each other at the lacrosse game, you looked like you wanted to rip each other's throats out. I just didn't want him or you to freak out and it blew up in my face." She confessed.
"Just forget about it. I don't care." He breathed, one arm dragging her waist closer so they were chest to chest, and the other holding onto the outline of the window so he didn't fall.
"Just because he's your brother doesn't change the person you are." Brett reminded her.

"So, how would you like me to thank you?" Zanna teased, feeling a new surge of confidence in herself. Leaning forward his lips latched onto her own, feeling the soft skin against hers before she deepened it, her lungs begging for oxygen as she pulled away, her eyes fluttering open as Brett licked his lips.
"I knew you wanted another kiss."
"Why did you think I left my phone in the car?" She asked him.
