Prologue and Author's Notes

Hey everyone! Thanks for taking the time to read my fanfic. So the part below is for anyone who hasn't read the original Hunger Games, because I don't do much background on the Games in my story. Anyway here's the background:

So the setting is a country called Panem where there's 13 districts and a Capitol in charge of them all. Each district is in charge of making something different; coal, luxury items, fish, etc.. At one point the districts decided to rebel against the Capitol, as the Capitol had a wonderful and easy life when compared to the other districts especially the poor ones. The districts lost and District 13 was obliterated.

To keep the districts in line, the Capitol created the Hunger Games. It happened once a year, and each district needed to send a boy and a girl, called tributes to participate. (In the poorer districts, the tributes from rich districts who have been trained are known as Career Tributes or simply Careers.) The twenty four tributes are then imprisoned in an outdoor arena-that could be any sort of environment. They are then forced to kill each other, and the last standing tribute wins.

In Suzanne Collins' version of the Games, Katniss volunteers in Prim's place, and Peeta Mellark is the other tribute. He's a boy from her district who happens to be in love with her. In my version, Prim volunteers for Katniss, and I chose a boy named Archer as someone other than Peeta as the second tribute.
