Chapter Four

"Get up Ayana, we have your cousin Viviane's  engagement today, and you need to get your hair and make up done. I'm not having you look like this," mum said pointing at me like I was filth. "What's so bad about looking like this?" I asked innocently.

I was in no mood to get out of bed and for what. A day wasted at the salon doing my hair and makeup. I hadn't even chosen a dress or something to wear because I had been so busy studying. Well not entirely true, I had been spending a lot of time with the twins. Since I would drop them off at school and pick them up in the morning we had grown a strong bond the last two months.

I enjoyed their company, I didn't realise how funny and entertaining they were. Well I was their sister so I had some influence in their personality.

"Do I have to go?" I whined. I really was not in the mood for an engagement. Especially since it was going to be an extravagant engagement. My cousin Viviane and her sister Emily hadn't stopped yapping  about it. Mum raised an eyebrow and then said "would you like me to call your father and ask him whether you can bail on his nieces engagement." "No no! I'm getting up now, and I'll just meet you and dad there. Ill take the boys there," I said as I walked into the bathroom. I could hear my mum going off on some rant about one of my dads sisters being a snob, but I chose to ignore it because I already wasn't looking forward to going.

I called Jasmine as I slowly got ready. "Look who it is, don't you ever get sick of me. I think you see me enough at school don't you think?" She answered the phone. "Oh Jasmine, I'm well thanks for asking," I said sarcasm evidently shown in my tone. We talked till I had decided on what I was going to wear.

Luckily Jasmine wasn't working and said she would come keep me company. Jasmines father owned an ice cream store in Cronulla, so she regularly worked for her father. I took my time getting dressed because I knew it would take her at least half an hour before she would get her arse here. I decided to wear tight Bardot Jeans with a black diamanté singlet with the print that said FCUK. I put on black Havanas and put my hair in a messy bun. There was just no point in fixing my hair or putting makeup since I was paying someone to do that for me.

I walked down the stairs to find the house quite and empty. I called my brother Edens' phone to check up on the boys. I thought they had nothing on today so they should be home.

"Hey Ayana, what you doing," My brother answered. "I'm just at home, I thought you boys were here. Were are you both?" I asked. I think I sounded a little clingy but I had missed them. "We went to cut our hair cut cause you know us Rustoms need to look presentable. So know one on dads side talk about us , since were half cast Lebos," he said angrily. "Don't worry we will never fit in unless we marry our cousins, and that will only happen if pigs fly. Don't get so worked up, mum just wants us to fit in with them," I said.

I could hear the frustration in my brothers voice. I tried to lighten the mood by telling him that we would give something to talk about tonight. As long as we showed my aunty how happy we all were that would burn them enough.

I could hear Jasmine downstairs cursing, so I ran downstairs to see what all the commotion was all about. That was until I saw her on the phone with one hand in the air signalling to my parked car. I reached out for my Gucci bag and yes it was real and walked towards the door and put the alarm on for the house.

"Fucken idiot," Jasmine through her bag into her bag. "Your so lucky your not into men yet, there all hopeless," Jasmine says looking at me. I let out a little laugh "you make out I'm a lesbian," I said.

"I'm sorry it's just that I'm really over it. Over the bullshit and lies that guys try to feed me like I'm some gullible bitch to believe them. Do I have lie to me on my forehead?" She asked. "Chill, I don't know why you work yourself up. Whose this guy that's upsetting you so much? I'll pay him a little visit and make sure that I break his balls," I said smoothly. Jasmine laughed and put the music up as we got onto the main road in Rockdale.
