Forced to Be Without You

Lucy P.O.V

"Ms. Heartfilia, I'm so sorry to tell you, but unfortunately one of the babies didn't make it."

My baby... Didn't make it... My heart dropped. I felt dizzy. How? Why? What went wrong? All these questioned swirled around in my head.

Natsu rushed over to me and tried talking to me, but everything was just fuzzy. I couldn't hear Natsu, all I heard was faint mumbling. My heart beat was louder than anything.

It raced faster than any racing horse. I felt like a part of me had been ripped out of me. Natsu realized I wasn't going to respond and sat down in a chair besides me and covered his face.
I figured he was crying. I'd cry too if I wasn't feeling so empty right now. I felt lost. I mean I know I still have one baby, but I was so ready for two.

Suddenly sound came back to me. I could here everything as clear as day.

"The baby is alive!" One of the nurses shouted.

"What?!" Everybody in the room said in unison.

"Her vitals are up! Her heart is beating and she's breathing! Its a miracle!" The nurse shouted with joy. I started crying.

My baby is alive, she's really alive. "How?" Was all I managed to squeak out.

"We're not sure. She just started breathing out of the blue." One nurse beamed.

I looked over to Natsu, his one tear stricken face was now completely happy. With a big toothy grin he said, "Our babies are okay"

I got checked and cleaned, it was weird not being able to clean myself but it was also... Refreshing?

"Would you like to meet your babies? We've finished cleaning them." The doctor smiled.

"Oh yes. Yes please!" I began to get more excited. Two nurses walked in carrying my babies.

"One baby boy." One nurse placed a baby in my arms.

"And one miracle baby girl." Both babies in my arms, I felt so complete. Everything was in balance again.

"Ms. Heartfilia, your parents are here." My parents walked in through the door.

"Mom, Dad, meet Masato and Michiko." I said announcing their names.

"I'm a grandma!!" Mom squealed.

"Here Natsu, hold her." I said handing Michiko to Natsu. His eyes widened and he took ahold of the tiny fragile baby.

"Look Luce! She has pink hair like me!" He said excitedly with a big toothy grin. He's so cute <3

"Oh Lucy, they're precious." Mom cooed.

"You did good honey." Dad praised.

"Ms. Heartfilia, more parents are here." Said a nurse. Soon after, Natsu's parents walked in, also accompanied by Wendy.

"We heard the news and tried to get here as fast as we could!" Grandine smiled.

"Excuse me?" The doctor walked back in the room. We all looked towards her direction. "We'd like to move Lucy to a nicer, cleaner place. So if you could all just step aside really quick, we can get that done." She smiled. Everyone moved to the side, I let mom carry baby Masato.

Some really strong guy nurses lifted me out of bed and sat me down in a wheel chair while others put my babies into a stroller bed type thing. "You can follow us." The guy said in a husky voice.

Everybody followed as I was being pushed down the hallway. They took me down a large, quiet hallway. "Here's your room ma'am." They strolled me into a large windowed room.

The babies in their own little bed thing got pushed next to where I would be laying down. I was helped out of the wheel chair and into the bed. "Thank you" I smiled. And with that the nurses were gone.

"Oh Lucy, they're absolutely precious." Grandine smiled.

"Thank you. Would you like to hold one of them?" Instantly her face lit up and she nodded. "Go ahead and choose one." She went over and picked up the baby swaddled in pink.

"What's her name again?" She questioned.

"Michiko." I smiled.

"What a pretty name." She caressed the tiny baby who rest in her arms.

"It stands for 'beautiful wise child' it was Natsu's idea actually. Masato too. His name means 'justice'" Natsu's cheeks turned a slight tinge of pink as I put him on the spot.

"Good job Natsu!" Igneel pat him on the back.

"Thank you." Natsu smiled.

"I'm just so proud of you two! Your children are blessed with great parents." My mom started tearing up.

"Oh honey." Dad sighed, hugging her.

The day went on. We laughed and talked about random stories. Grandine talked about how much of a pain Natsu was during birth. It was just a really good time.

Soon it became dark, our families had things to do, but they promised to come see us again tomorrow.

Natsu stayed with me of course. He said he refused to leave our sides. Some nice ladies even brought him a blanket to use while he slept in the recliner chair.

He wouldn't go to sleep though. He told me he wanted me to sleep first so he wouldn't have to worry... Which I didn't really understand but it was fine.

I was extremely tired however, giving birth and all. I closed my eyes for just 10 seconds and was already knocked out.

Natsu P.O.V

Once Lucy fell asleep, I kissed her forehead and walked over to where our babies were. I looked over them having instant joy fill my heart.

These are my babies. Mine and Lucy's babies. This is all I've ever truly wanted. A family of my own I could look after.

Michiko and Masato Heartfilia Dragneel, welcome to the world guys. Daddy and mommy will always love you.
