NATHAN'S P.O.V
I was standing at the corner of the room feeling guilty for what I had told Jennifer while my father and Armando had a little 'conversation' regarding the marriage.
I admit I did lose my cool for a second but she had gotten me angry by saying she would never marry me and looking at me as if I were a beast. She should not have spoken to me like that. If it had been anyone else they would've had a bullet between their eyes by now. I wasn't going to actually shoot her, I just wanted to show her that I could. Which I can.
She swore she would always hate me. I did too, but what the hell was I supposed to do or say? I can't look weak and beg for her to want me. That would be pathetic and besides I do not beg, I demand and whatever I order must me fulfilled.
All I know for a fact is that I, Nathan Daxus, would never apologize. Above everything I have pride. It might sound childish but I am the soon to be official Don. If I do something and it is actually wrong, I am not expected to apologize. Whatever I say goes, my word is the law and I do not backtrack.
Besides, she had been the one to act like an immature girl after all. While deep in thought, I didn't know what was happening around me, until I heard a small shriek.
Then a loud thud followed coming from the center of the room.
There at the corner of the room was Jenny's limp body sprawled on the floor. She was breathing, thankfully, nothing really bad had happened apart from her fainting of course. Good thing, I still had a fiancé.
There was a small amount of blood flowing from the side of her head. I'm assuming that when she fainted she hit the corner of the table with her head. How stupid of her, that would really hurt when she woke up. It could've been worse, I thought to myself. It was her fault anyways.
When Sandra saw the blood she gasped in horror. My father looked at her and rolled his eyes overtly annoyed. He had seen more blood than that on a good day.
I couldn't help but chuckle at both of them. Then I looked at Armando who was now sitting at a chair drinking his whiskey not caring for his daughter in the least. Family drama. Best to stay out of it.
I decided to be a good person and help Sandra take Jennifer to a room. I carefully picked her up and laid her on the bed, then a maid came in with a first aid kit.
So I walked out of the bedroom leaving the maid to care for Jenny. Then I heard Sandra scolding Armando, as if he were a little kid, for not caring for Jenny in the slightest. I guess she wasn't a bad person just an annoying.
I tried tuning them out by listening to music on my phone but they were now screaming like crazy. I may be a mafia boss, but hey once in awhile I need time to simply relax. I'm not constantly torturing people, shooting & killing, or handling drugs. Drug lords are people too.
Suddenly I heard my phone ringing.
"Who's this?"
"It's me Christopher", my best friend answered quickly. I've known Christopher all my life we've been friends since childhood and he's the only person I trust. He's saved my life on multiple occasions and now it has become his job.
His voice for some reason sounded nervous.
"What happened?", I asked him eagerly.
"Someone alerted the DEA and the narcs when the coke would arrive, it was a set up", he said in a serious voice. Fuck.
"Find out who it was. I don't want any more fuck ups", I ordered. He may be my fried but above that he is still my subordinate.
"I'm on it. We'll find the traitor and find out who he's working for. All I hope is that he's part of an enemy group and not infiltrated from the FBI or DEA because if he is we're in deep shit", he told me then hung up leaving complete silence.
He has a point. If it is an undercover agent then he probably knows too much and already gave that information up. It wouldn't make sense though because giving up the shipment would blow his cover. And besides the government would've taken action already. After thinking and overthinking it all I decided to take a break. Whoever it was would be taken care of.
I decided to return to the dining table and found my father talking to Armando and Sandra. Finally those two had stopped arguing.
"Right on time like always son, we were discussing when the wedding should be", Stefan said with enthusiasm. He loved business and this was nothing but business. I nodded ignoring his irritating tone.
"Later, we need to talk about the shipment that was arriving today." I informed him basically saying we needed to talk in private.
"Nonsense, go ahead son we're all going to be family soon and join our. . . corporations", he said with a happy tone he ever rarely had.
"Everyone here already knows what happens if they betray the don, no one wants to suffer the consequences, right?" he continued, taunting Armando and Sandra. Before they could answer he smiled.
"That's what I thought", he stated dryly.
I sat down and explained to them the trouble we were having. When I mentioned the suspicions of the undercover cop my father was fuming and clenching his fists. That was to be expected.
This was too much shit to deal with in one day. First sleeping beauty and now the missing shipment.
