Chapter 13

NATHAN'S POV 

My father looked ready to argue with me when the door opened again and a woman wearing a white coat walked in, yes it was the doctor. 

"Mr. Nathan you received very severe injuries but you're stable now just try not to stress yourself too much and try to rest, your body needs time to get better. As for Miss. Roselli-", he explained but I cut him off when he began talking about my deceased fiance. 

"I was there she's dead I know already no need to tell me", I stated before she could continue. 

"As I was saying Miss. Roselli received severe injuries like you, she's in the operation room this very moment but everything indicates that she will be fine. In the ambulance she did flatline but they managed to bring her back", the doctor said and walked out. 

She wasn't dead, Jennifer was alive, I felt a giant weight leave my shoulders. I turned to my father angrily,"You fucking told me she died". 

"Well I lied get over it, besides technically she did die Nathan", he said nonchalantly with a smirk on his face,prick. 

"Fuck your technicalities, you made me think my fiance was dead. You know what don't even say anything I'm too exhausted to argue right now. Did they track Vincent down?", I looked at him expectantly, I already knew the answer but was hoping I was wrong. 

"No they failed to find him, he's probably out of the country by now", was all he said, if you ask me he didn't want our people to find Vincent, he knows that I won't let him go unscathed. The doctor walked in again and gave us an update on Jennifer then left , she was out of surgery.

"Is she awake?", I asked desperately. 

"Why do you care so much? Didn't you declare to hate each other, in a very dramatic way if I may add?", my dad said with a smug look. 

"Look old man I'm glad she's not dead but that's not why I want to talk to her, Vincent and her had a conversation while I was drifting in and out of consciousness and I want to know what he told her." 

What the hell did he need to talk to her about? Why didn't he kill her? What if he's making her be his spy or something I mean there should be a reason why he didn't kill her, right? 

He's not a good man that would just let a woman walk away because she's pretty, there's always a motive. 

What is his reason for keeping her alive?

 I mean first he tries to kill us both and then for some reason he doesn't finish her. 

I start getting up when suddenly my old man is to my side stopping me from doing so, "She's recuperating right now, let her get better then talk to her Nathan don't be an impulse boy."

"Look I honestly don't care how she feels right now, I need to know what he told her. What if she's working for him, I mean he wouldn't just let her live for no reason he's a trigger happy asshole he would've loved to turn her into a colander", I told him thinking back to when my brother would just shoot everything in sight, he's not exactly the most sane person out there. 

My father sighed and nodded slightly "You're right son but don't be impulsive if she's with him don't tip her off, it's better she doesn't know we're on to her. Try talking to her first though you might be wrong Nathan, it wouldn't be the first time."

I looked at him and nodded I had to be level-headed about this, maybe Jennifer wasn't working for him she would be innocent until proven guilty. 

Hopefully she wouldn't be guilty because there would be no special treatment for her just like any traitor she would have to be eliminated.

 There are rules not even the boss can bend.
