Joseph sits with the lady at a bar. Its small, little lights hang from the ceiling, and the smell of musk with a mix of cologne along with stale beer fills the room. He hasn't been in a bar for a while, so when the man over the counter asked him for his beverage he froze. Joseph explained that he hadn't been in a bar for years so he wasn't sure about his options. He ended up settling for water. He was used to water, the idea of alchohol made his stomach churn.
" Joseph. You look amazing. "
Joseph smiles. " Money changes people. " He takes a sip of his water and looks around. The bar was the ladies idea. Half of his life he's lived in the city but hes never seen the bar before. It seemed old, from the cracked covered parking lot and faded paint on the outside walls. He didn't mind it though, he could get used to it eventually.
" That is true, Hopefully for the better. Money can be evil. "
Joseph nods. It was true. Money can make people do crazy things.
" I still don't know your name by the way. I think its about time I know. " Looking at the women, he feels a tug in his heart. Not like he's in love with her but a sense of familiarity. Like he's seen her before. Even though he's known her for years, he never really looked at her. He's bought things, said hello, then walked out. That's it. But now that he takes in her dark hair and young eyes he see's something, something different yet the same.
The women shakes her head.
" Not yet. I want the timing to be right. "
" I understand. "
He actually didn't, but offending the women was not on his list of do's.
They talk for a couple hours more. They lose track of time. Joseph has never felt more alive. He feels like he actually has a heartbeat, blood in his veins and meaning in life.
He was no longer a poor man.
The women see's the changes. Not only the clothes and hair. But the way Joseph walks, talks. She was afraid that the money may go to Joseph's head, but then decides against it. Joseph is a good man, and even with millions of dollars, she hopes he still will be.
