Ninja In Sneakers 01: Coffee Love.

Blowing out a puff of air, I tap my fingers along to a beat in my head, all while scanning the menu hung up above the back side of the serving counter.

"Excuse me, Miss? You ready to order?" The barista now right across from me asks kindly, offering me a small smile.

"Uhm, yeah, sorry." Swiveling around on my heals, I lean on the counter, facing the light haired boy with the lovely mocha eyes. "I'd like the Toffee Nut Latte, please? Oh, and a chocolate chip Muffin."

He nods, and looks down to type up my order. While he's occupied with his task, I take this moment to look at his name tag. "Alec." I mumble quietly, testing the name on my tongue for the first time. Smiling, I look back up to see him looking at me in slight amusement, while holding a paper coffee cup and a black sharpie.

"Well, I think it'd only be fair that I know your name, y'know, since you now know mine." His lips lift into a small smirk.

Blushing, I nod. "Yeah, it's Kendall. And I swear, if you spell it like an illiterate asshole I will kill you."

This gets a laugh out of him, and soon he's flashing me a slight dimple on his right cheek, successfully making me melt. "Okay, Kendall, I'll try."

Sighing, I reach into my bag to get my wallet, only to realize that it's missing.

"Are you kidding me? How could I do something so stupid!" My hand moves around, yet I still feel no wallet. Honestly, how could I be so stupid, damn it.

"Hey, Alec..?"

Looking up from my cup he's currently filling with delicious coffee, he smiles politely. "Yes, Kendall?"

"Uhm, I kinda.. left my wallet at home.." A deep red blush spreads over my cheeks out of embarrassment.

He shrugs, "No problem."

"What do you mean 'No problem'? I have to pay." How did he get this job?

"No, I'll give it to you on the house." His eyes flash brightly, as he hands me the scolding hot substance.

Okay...

"Um, no offense, but no." His eyebrow raises slightly at my response. "I mean, you could get in trouble. Hell, you will get in trouble, what am I talking about."

He chuckles and shakes his head in amusement. "No, trust me, it's fine. Plus, you're pretty and I like treating pretty girls." He winks.

My mouth falls open, "Did you just...?"

He nods.

Groaning out loud in annoyance, I grab the coffee from his hands and glare at him with burning cheeks. "Fine, Casanova, I'll take it. But if you get fired, don't blame me or the coffee."

He rolls his eyes, "Oh, who cares. Just take your coffee, love."

My heart flutters at the slight slip of his clearly there, but almost perfectly hidden, British accent.

"Mhm, you bet, I've got some serious coffee love." I smile brightly while he stares at me confused. "Okay, bye, thanks for the coffee!"
