Taylor's POV
"Look I know you don't want to move but its for the best." Mom tries to talk me into liking the idea of living with my dad. Don't get me wrong he's not a bad guy, but I'm graduating this year and now I'm moving to a different state where I know nobody.
"It's not that I have a problem with living with him, mom. It's just, I'm starting over on my last year of high school. I was supposed to graduate with all of my friends, not move to a completely new place and start over." I grumble as I lean my head against the window to the car. I watch the scenery pass and we sit in silence other then the radio quietly playing a random station. We soon pull up and my dad is there to greet me with a smile. I attempt to smile back to hide the shitty mood I'm feeling.
"Hey Taylor how you feeling?" He asks well enveloping me in a hug. I hug back.
"Not the greatest if I'm honest." I say to him and he nods in understanding. If my dad lived in Orlando instead of Michigan I would probably live full time with him instead.
"Hey, on the plus side. The guys here like you tanned folk." He says and I chuckle. He knew I was gay. I came out to both my parents at 13. At first they thought it was a faze until I brought home a couple of now ex boyfriends. He thought it was awesome because I wouldn't have to go through the pain of hand crushing. When I asked him what he was talking about he told me that apparently my mom had actually broken his fingers when she was giving birth to me. Glad I didn't have to do that.
"I've gotta get to the airport." My mom said awkwardly.
"I'll drive you." My dad said. She nods and hugs me while starting to cry.
"I'm gonna miss you." She cries. I mentally sigh but hug her back none the less. She waves goodbye and I drag my suitcases into the house.I stare at the stairs in front of me and sigh. Yea I so did not want to bring my bags up those. I begin lugging them up the stairs and I'm breathless by the time I reach the top. I head into my room and almost smile. Still the same.
Navy blue walls with hardwood flooring and a queen sized bed in the center of the far wall. It had black and white checkered blanket laying atop it. On the left wall there was a window and a six drawer dresser with a TV on top. That was it. Small, but nice.
I begin unpacking my things. It wasn't much, just some clothes, and some books and movies I will no doubt binge watch or read at 4am. I finish at the same time I hear the front door open.
I head downstairs and see my dad making his way to the kitchen. I follow suit.
"Are you hungry? I can grill up some burgers?" He offers.
"Yea sure." He gets out a cutting board and some vegetables and starts cutting them up.
"You start school tomorrow." He says.
"What? But I just got here." I whine. No way in hell did I want to start so soon.
"I gotta like, catch up on sleep and stuff." I pathetically try to reason.
"According to your mom you slept most of the way here. You've slept enough." He says and I groan.
"Go watch TV or something. I got everything in here." He says after a minute of silence and I just listen and head to the living room.
We watch random shows throughout dinner and then a wave of tiredness hits me so I excuse myself for what appears to be much needed sleep.I wake up the next day to my very irritating phone alarm that just keeps beeping at me. I groan and roll over, but get up. It's my first day so I wanna look good. I walk to the bathroom with my clothes in hand and have a quick shower. I get out and dry myself off before putting on some black skinny jeans with rips in the knees, a gray and white thick horizontal striped long sleeve shirt and a black sweater that I leave unzipped. I put on my gray beanie and my black all star converse. I nod at myself. My dark brown short curly hair was already drying and my tan skin made my blue eyes pop. I brush my teeth and grab my bag from my room that my dad had thankfully filled prior to my arrival.
I grab an apple and as soon as I get in my car it starts raining. I chuckle as I start driving, thankful its just straight down from my house. That, and I'm not one of the students currently walking with there bags over there heads or the smart ones with umbrellas.
