Mother and father are chatting together in the front seats as we drove down the street towards home. Despite Grandfather's offer to call our personal driver, mother and father decided to drive themselves. It was my 17th birthday today, and we had a small picnic in the park near our mansion. Mother laughs happily while father grabs her hand and turns to her. Just then, headlights shine brightly through the window, while someone honked their horn repeatedly. Father and mother look out the driver side window, just as the other car crashes into ours.

My eyes fling open at the same time as I sit up in bed quickly with a gasp. My alarm sounded the entire time. I was drenched in sweat and my breathing was labored in fear. Not again... Tears burn my Crystal Blue eyes and fall down my cheeks. That crash happened a few weeks ago. Mother and father didn't make it, I had escaped with a few cuts and bruises. Grandfather took me in that day. I sigh sadly and try to calm myself. You're alright. More tears slide down my cheeks. I wipe them away, sniffle, and shut my alarm off. Time to get ready for school. I climb out of bed and walk to my bathroom. Once I was done, I walk to the dining room. "Hello grandfather." I say seeing grandfather at his normal spot, drinking coffee and reading the paper. He ignores me as usual. I sit down just as grandfather's butler Hideki comes out with my breakfast. "Good morning Miss Miyuki, did you sleep well?" he asks with a kind smile. "Yes, thank you." I lie and fake smile. "Very good Miss. Here you are ma'lady. Enjoy." he says, places the tray down, and dismisses himself. Once he's gone, my smile fades. I chance a glance at grandfather before I begin to eat. Once I'm done, Hideki, takes my plate. "I'll call the driver around to the front miss." Hideki says, bows, and leaves again. I look towards grandfather. "Well, I'm off grandfa--" he cuts me off. "If you expect me to say good luck, you are highly mistaken. Now if you don't mind, I'd like to read in piece." Grandfather says before folding his paper, grabbing his coffee cup, getting up, and walking towards his study. I sigh sadly. "Miss Miyuki, you must forgive your grandfather. He still grieves for the loss of his son and daughter in-law." Hideki says walking towards me, holding my school briefcase. "It's alright Hideki...I'm use to it.." I say looking to the door, as my eyes water. A gentle hand is placed on my shoulder, making me look up at Hideki, who had a sad smile. "You don't have to hide it Miyuki, no one is listening but me." he says and wipes at a tear when it falls. A small smile finds my lips before I hug him tightly. "Thank you Hideki..." I say. If not for this gentleman, I wouldn't have been able to handle living here. I let Hideki go and step back. "Sorry...I know it's unladylike to let people see me in such a way..." I say hanging my head low. Hideki chuckles softly. "It's very alright, sometimes, you need someone's shoulder to cry on. I'm happy to lend it." Hideki says and places his hand on the top of my head. "Now then, here's your bag ma'lady." Hideki says. I look up at him, smile, and take the bag. "Thank you Hideki." I say. "Have a good day miss." he says, bows, and leaves. Once he's gone, I grab the door handle, and open the door. The car waited patiently outside. I take a deep breath, walk outside, close the door, and walk to the car. The driver gets out and opens the door for me with a bow. "Thank you." I say and climb inside. The door shuts and soon we're on our way to school. I rest my head against the seat and sigh. It's no surprise that grandfather acts the way he does towards me. Afterall, it's my fault father and mother went out that day to begin with... I sigh again and look out the tinted window. The car comes to a stop, and the driver soon opens my door for me. "Thank you." I say and smile. The driver nods. I climb out and the door is shut soon after. I stare up at the huge school before me. "Have a good day miss." the driver says, bows, and walks to the driver side door. Soon he drives off, and I'm left alone at the entrance. After a sigh, I walk towards the entrance doors to Ouran Academy.
