Back on the hill, Zane was sitting on a bench still trying to process what just happened.
"Can't believe this is happening to me right now."
"The world we live in is like this." Zane looked up with distaste. "It's a prison full of nightmares. Even those good spicy dreams just turn into nightmares."
Daniel appeared in a blur. Daniel laughed. "You are not alone."
"What are you here for? To revel in what you did?"
"I'm trying to help you. Isn't that obvious?"
"I'm better off not knowing. Do you have any idea how good my life was before knowing? I worked so hard to find love, have a friend and have a family. Now I lost it all! (OUAT) All! Helping me!? That is far from how I see it."
"Really? Don't you think it would hurt even more after you learned that you're married to someone that killed your parents? How would you feel? How would your dead parents feel?"
"You're a monster!"
"Far from it. Stop being a child about such feeble matters. You have more important things to worry about."
"If you want me to uphold that ridiculous title, then forget it."
Daniel ran toward Zane and picked him up from the ground, grabbed onto his chest pulling him forward.
"Enough you worm. Not everyone is born to have such a gift. You're lucky to born with such. If not, I would already burn your bones, and eat your flesh for supper. Just because someone is treating you nice doesn't mean that they have 100 % pure intentions. If someone is treating you harshly doesn't mean they want to hurt you. Open your ding dang eyes, you mortal!"
"Let go of me, you!" Zane pushed Daniel away. "Why would you go to a nobody that has nothing to become a Vampeneeze Lord? I would be the last person to choose from."
"YOU FOOL!" Daniel punched Zane in the face. Zane fell back on the ground with his mouth bleeding.
"Ughh.." Zane got back up and ran toward Daniel, getting ready to punch him.
"Why do you think you were abandoned as a child?" Zane stopped
"What....How did...How"
"Why do you think you had to suffer like this? Why do you think people treated you badly? Why did you think no one wanted to be your friend? You had all the signs of a Vampeneeze Lord. You were meant for greater things."
"Don't act like you are my worm in my brain."
"How can I not? I have been watching you since your birth." Zane looked up in shock
"Don't you think you deserve something more? More than a nobody?"
Zane looked away while tears swelled up in his eyes. "Like it matters. My life was all about suffering. All I ever wanted was to feel happy, feel connected, wanted a friend. Look at me now. I lost everything!! Everything! "Zane glared back at Daniel with anger.
"What if I told you can have it again?"
Zane looked at Daniel, trying to read him, and shook his head."No...No...I don't want it again. Love is betrayal...too painful to bear. People are brutal. They treat me like a nobody. I was once beaten by a group of boys. The teacher saw, but walked away. Just because I come from a poor background, my safety, concerns and being is ignored..something I am not worth fighting for. I couldn't do anything about it. Life mocking me."
"And I thought you got used to it."
"I hate it! If I can bleed, then I can feel. If I can feel, then I have a heart. (OUAT) Stop treating me like a rascal. My ex-adoptive parents, kids, friends and now my .... Enough is enough. I rather have power. No one will dare to insult me!"
"If that is what you want, then why do you keep rejecting this offer. What do you think a "lord" means? There is nothing for you to lose. "
Zane looked at Daniel. "Welcome to the Discovery Channel,"stated Daniel
"Follow me and I can show you how to get what you want" Daniel added
"Why should I trust you?"
"Because I live the same life you did. After all, we do descend from the same family."
"What, you?"
"Why do you think I need to do all this? To torture you? If that is the way for my younger brother understand what he is meant for, what he needs, what he deserves, so be it. I am doing all this for your good."
Zane stared at Daniel with surprise.
Daniel grabbed onto the shoulders of Zane "You need to grow up! You cannot dwell within your past, rather look into the future and grab onto what is supposed to be yours."
"I...I...."
"Don't you want that?"
Zane nodded.
"All you need to do is step through that portal and your new life, the one you deserve will begin. Trust me!"
Daniel flicked his hand and portal opened.
"Don't be afraid, Zane. Remember. You need to keep fighting for who you are and what you want. Stepping inside that portal and accepting your title is the first step. Remember I will be at your side no matter what."
Zane looked at Daniel's serious face and nodded.
Zane walked toward the portal slowly and stepped inside. Inside, Zane was inside a room, A plain room with no furniture or paintings. Everything was white. Suddenly, everything turned into flames. It was a fire. Zane coughed. The flames were burning closer to Zane.
"Help!"
"Don't fight it! Let the fire consume you. Fire has no effect on a Vampeeneze Lord. Let it resurrect you as someone else. BE REBORN"
Zane stood still, held out his arms as his body caught on fire. It started from his feet, grew up to his waist, then his arms and hands, and soon his face was ignited in flames.
"Aghhh. It burns! Daniel!"
Everything went black.
