Those who live and die

The girls brother had died during the night.

"Come on Lucas were heading to the park." Rose called holding a plate of cookies.

Lucas and Rose walked side by side to the car. Both of them has confiscated a chocolate chip cookie from the plate.

"Did you guys steal another cookie?" Andrea asked looking back at us.

"It's not stealing if it was ours to begin with." Rose said converting her mouth as she finished chewing the cookie.

Andrea just laughed shaking her head. The three of us drive away from the house and to a park not far away. Rose had called them after they had cleaned up from baking. They were just finishing up breakfast so they'd get there not long after we did.

Rose and Lucas has gone to go color while Andrea day down on a bench with cookies. It was over cast today. Luckily there wasn't a breeze.

"Ma'am would you mind if we talked to your son?" Dean asked.

Rose looked over smiling.

"He's not going to tell you anything. He hasn't said anything since his dead died." Andrea explained.

"I would still like to try." Dean said.

Andrea sighed pointing towards Lucas and Rose.

Dean smiled brightly as his eyes laid on Rose. She smiled back before returning to her coloring.

"This is for you princess." Dean said holding out a Rose.

Rose took the dark red rose smelling it." However did you know? "She mused laughing.

"Lucky guess." Dean laughed." Hi Lucas. Do you mind if I draw with you?"

Lucas looked at him then went back to coloring. Rose nodded her head. Dean sat down taking one of her pieces of paper and color crayons.

"I was about your age when my mom died. I had to carry my brother out of our house. He was six months when she died." Lucas looked up at Dean with the same look he gave me at the library." I did the same thing you did but then I said mom would tell me to be brave. So everyday I tell myself that. Be brave."

Rose was about to start crying after that. Dean finished up his drawing and gave it to Lucas.

"I'll talk to you later princess." Dean whispered giving Rose's hand a squeeze.

Lucas finished his drawing and then got up and walked to Dean. He gave his shirt a small tug. Dean looked down at Lucas. He handed Dean the picture he was drawing nonchalant then walked back to Rose. Andrea stared at Dean in disbelief.

"Thank you for your time." Sam said.

"Would you guys like a cookie. We made them this morning." Andrea offered.

"Thank you." They said in unison grabbing a cookie.

Dean looked back at Rose giving her a wink before getting in the car.

"Looks like someone's gots the hots you." Andrea said smiling.

"I don't know." Rose said not looking at her.

Andrea just laughed.

Sam's pov

"Where did you even hide that rose? Rose was still wearing your jacket so I don't know where you hid it." I asked.

"It's a secret little brother." Dean said laughing.

I just shook my head. Dean slowly came to a stop. The girls dad was on his boat out on the lake. Dean and I quickly got out of the car and ran to him.
