Last Time
And there I waited, praying for Chris to wake up…so then I could leave this hell.
Chapter Fifteen ~ another attack
I sat comforted by the warm fire’s glow, I stared endlessly at Chris’ body…still no sign of life. I sighed. I missed him; I missed his warm embrace and loving attitude. I shifted in my seat as I reached out to Chris’ cold hand.
“Come on you’ll be fine I promise…just trust me.” Chris said in my ear. My eyes were blindfolded. Chris led my hand into the unknown. “Just a little further…” my footsteps echoed, so I knew I was still inside the cave. “Chris…” “Shhh…” he stated. Chris let go of my hand and pointed me in a direction. His hands cupped the back of my face untying the blindfold. I opened my eyes to see a candle lit cave, dusted with rose petals. I sighed in awe. “Chris…” I gasped. It was beautiful. “One second,” he stated while pressing a button on a remote from his pocket. Calming string quartets plaid in the background. “Madam.” Chris smiled while sitting me down by the fire. “This is really beautiful Chris…thank you…” his smile grew wider. “I’ll do anything for you…”
My cheeks grew red at the memory as I smiled. “I love you Chris…” I mumbled as I closed my eyes, drifting into a restless sleep.

I opened my eyes and stared dumbly at the ceiling. Another day in this hell. It had been 5 days since the bear attacked, 5 days since Chris died. I slowly shifted my body as I heard a rattle. My eyes darted to the noise. A grumble, almost like a growl. Another bear, I though. I instinctively grabbed the spear I had made and kept it tightly gripped in my hands. My knuckles were white wrapped around the branch of the spear. Growl. I jumped in fear. I must protect Chris. My body was tense and upright. I edged closer to the noise. I heard it again, only louder. I looked around the cave wearily. Growl. I jumped, but soon relaxed as I saw a badger scratching at a rock in the cave. “Shoo…” I shouted throwing a near by rock at it. The badger instinctively looked at me before scuttling away. I sighed in relief. I smiled to myself and looked over to Chris’ body. It was gone! My eyes scanned the room so fast it made my world turn. “Chris?!” I explained. I walked over to where Chris’ body laid to see scratch and paw marks, distinctively like a wolf’s. I whimpered. “Chris…” I ran out of the cave, still scanning my surroundings intensely. “Chris?!” I bellowed. My feet hit the ground at a force as I followed the footprints or rather the paw prints. I pushed through the bush. I paused suddenly. “Don’t move.” A voice said. I looked in front of me; I nearly screamed out and jumped around as there stood in front of me a injured, tired looking Chris. Tired and injured he may be, but so long as he is alive, I don’t care. “Don’t move.” He repeated calmly. The wolf stared forcefully at us both, before scuttling away into the trees ahead. “Chris!” I exclaimed while jumping on Chris and attaching my lips to his. I felt his warmth, his smile. I felt him again. Something I thought would never be possible again.
We sat back in safety of the cave. “Why did it take you so long to wake up?” I questioned.
“I was too hurt, I made myself exhausted. Sorry I worried you Anna.” He said while wrapping his arm around me. “When I woke up you were asleep, I didn’t want to wake you…and then the wolf came he must have smelt us…I tried to lead him away from you, that’s when you found me…” Chris explained.
I smiled.
“I’m so happy to have you back Chris…never leave again!” I made him promise. I was wrapped in his warm embrace in the dull, leaking cave, but I couldn’t be any happier. I have Chris back. Nothing can go wrong now.
There it is. Hope you liked it. Comment and tell me what you think. Also I have a question for you: if any actor could play Anna and Chris, who would you cast?
