The sound of boards breaking and glass shattering made my heart thunder in my chest.

I don't want to be the victim here but now we both are.

"Search the place top to bottom until you find the girl and take out the boy too"someone shouted

All there footsteps could be heard groaning under their weight.

What great masters of surprise.

"Hey kid"Red called and I faced her,the dim light couldn't hide her worried face"stay close to me and shoot anyone that gets too close,I didn't want to bring you into any of this but they found me again"

She cupped my cheek with her palm then slowly moved away from me.

She held my hand tightly in hers and moved through the dark like she's done this before.

She stopped and I raised my gun wincing at the sharp pain in my hand but I ignored it.

The sound of boots echoed down the hall to our right.We stayed quiet and still in the dark while the men noisily passed us.

We moved through the dark silently and swiftly until we got to what I think is a basement.

Red turned her flashlight back in cautious of any signs of movement.

The light shined over a vent not far from the ground.

"Nicely done"a familiar voice said from the shadows and I scowled

Red gave a high pitched squeak and dropped her flashlight.

"David I see you've been well"why did that voice sound so familiar to me and ever time I heard it I hated it more

I grabbed the flashlight and shined on a face that I would never forget.

"Hello son"

My blood boiled with rage.What the hell is he doing here?

"I see you didn't join your mother"he chuckled

I took a step forward and he pressed a gun to Alex's head.She looked scared out of her mind

"You wouldn't want her pretty face messed up would you"he held her closer to his body with her in a choke hold"it's a shame you didn't do anything back then maybe this will turn out differently"

I turned off the flashlight and threw it in the direction I saw the vent.I approached him quietly,he grunted and Red stumbled past me our shoulders brushing together.

He punched me in the jaw and I tripped him and punched him on his stomach.

We wrestled each other slamming into things.My hand grazed something sharp and grabbed it stabbing him in the shoulder.He kicked me off him and a gun shot rang throughout the room.

He groaned meaning he wasn't dead but he would come looking for us.

"David come on we have to leave now"Red said to me and we both climbed into the vent

I got myself into something dangerous and for some reason my father was involved.

But why are they attacking her?
