★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

For as long as he can remember he has always been the guy that girls turned to when their hearts were broken but never the one that broke it in the first place. It wasn't the fact that he was poor but that he wasn't as "attractive." Over the years he's come to accept this fact but that hasn't stopped him from trying to win the affection of his best friend and socialite Sophia DeBeurre . However, his vigilante passion to pursue Sophia was always killed by her words of unease which often made both parties fall in an awkward silence. After a particularly humiliating incident which involved him professing his love to her, he realized that he was forever friendzoned.

The time was now 10:41pm and all Orion wanted to do was open his door, face plant his bed and stay there forever. But of course fate had a cruel vengeance against him because as soon as he entered the room, his home phone began ringing. He slowly zombie walked to the other side of the wall to pick up the phone. Whoever was disturbing his sweet grace period better be mother Theresa because he was about to curse them to the bottomless pit of the Hudson river.

He picked up the old phone and walked to sit on his couch with the springy wire following him but still attached to the wall. "sexiness speaking, who' dis?" He spoke into the phone.

"Orion Ashland Meters! I know you didn't just informally greet me. What if I was your boss or something." The high pitched voice of his long time crush Sophia, blurred through the phone.

At this he pecked up and cleared his throat mumbling a sorry but by that time she was berating him about manners. It wasn't uncommon for her to call to berate him so he just sat down and listened to her lecture. At some point, however, he interrupted her.

"Sophs, not that I don't enjoy your history lesson, why did you call?" He asked back in a tired voice.

" I just wanted to hear your voice...you know to confirm that you aren't dead." she replied back smartly.

"why will you say that? Is not like I haven't been texting you, you just never replied back" as usual, he wanted to add.

"Aww I'm so sorry darling, I've been busy...but that is beside the point. How come you have been avoiding me." She quickly changed the subject back on him.

Because I'm in love with you but you keep rejecting me. Because I don't want to be your hand maid anymore. These were his thoughts since after the incident but he didn't dare speak his mind. He thought about why he was avoiding her and always concluded that it was the best way to get over her. He would have wanted to profess his love again if he had seen her. He knew not to do that, however, he's learned it the hard way.

"I haven't been avoiding you, I'm just very busy with my last two years of my MD-PhD program. Do you know that I have to memorize all the things I learned 6 years ago? It was worst that-"
